When I go and watch the nippers team and find myself shouting "clear your lines" I know I'm channeling the spirit of Nige! Keep him working with Martin Slinks and it'd be a good combination

To be fair that is probably due to being a radio commentator when people can't see what's happening so it doesn't matter. Last season he was awful for commentating a full minute behind the action but has improved. I love having someone who makes such funny mistakes. That’s actually one of the things that’s really striking about having radio commentators on live streams - you realise they’re often describing the action a good while after it’s happened. It’s not just Nige, it’s just a feature of radio commentary you don’t normally pick up on. By nature it has to be more precise and detailed than when you’re accompanying images, and because nobody is watching it’s no skin off anyone’s nose if you take a bit of time to get the description right. And it's probably the main reason why they need dedicated commentary for it. The two things are so different and it just doesn't fit. And then you get the half time ramblings from Ange. That's the worst thing about it.

He might be getting on and is becoming more eccentric by the week, but I absolutely love the bloke with his old fashioned commentaries. At times he's far more entertaining than the football. I thought he was on top eccentric form today. It will be a sad, sad day when Nige switches off his microphone. Spinksy helped him out today. I like Spinks and it's obvious that he has the utmost respect for our individualist legend, as do all those who actually know him. I've met him on a couple of occasions and I can only describe him as a true gentleman. His greatest moment, he says, was when we beat Cardiff at Ninian Park when Gudjon was the manager. He was appalled (and angry) when the announcer told the Cardiff fans to stay off the pitch during their celebrations. He said he couldn't believe it because there was still ten minutes to play. He also shed tears when we lifted the League Cup Trophy at Wembley. And heads go up! OS. Most of us think of Nigel very fondly I’m sure OS. He’s been with us through the highs and the lows and he’s lived them, felt them just like every one of us. He’s a Stokie through and through and is loved and respected by most of his fellow fans, for he has served us brilliantly as our eyes and ears over the years. It would be so sad for him not to be remembered as the legend that he is because he tried to go on for too long. He still has a role to play I’m sure but probably not as one of the lead commentators. BM It will happen one day, Mick. He says his two lads will tell him when it's time. Will be a sad day. A bit like putting your favourite dog to sleep. OS.

I can't hear the name Sidibe without shouting "LEAPS like a salmon".
I imagine Big Mama migrating up a waterfall
My favourite Nige moment.

When doing the team line ups at the beginning of the game I swear when he tried to say "Freddie Ladapo", he said "Freddie Ladogpoo".

Without sounding rude, does anyone actually know how old he is? 48. But he did hammer the disco biscuits in the 90s. Four years younger than the US president and eight younger than the next (touch wood). So what’s the problem?

May I ask a question.
Other than the photo that was posted on the other thread (those that read the other thread will know which one i mean) why is no one kicking up a stink about this one? The only difference between this and the other, from what I can see, is that Nigel is a bloke

There was one game last season (Wigan at home I think) when he said “McLlean’s having a bit of how’s your father with an opposition player”.

The only difference between this and the other, from what I can see, is that Nigel is a bloke I don't believe that Nigel ever played squash at any level - let alone being at one time one of the top professional players and coaches in the world. If I am wrong, I will, of course, apologise to Nigel personally.

The point is (or at least I thought it was) how qualified she is to be on radio stoke.

Nigel is employed as a match commentator. Angela is employed to add comments from a fan's perspective. I don't see what qualifications she needs to have other than being a fan.

Just like we need fans in the grounds we need commentators to commentate on what's going on "on the pitch". Nige does this, he's not always right what's going on but for the best part does a good job. There's 4 minutes gone between Man Utd and Arsenal and 95% of the country has been everything other than what is going on. One thing Nan fans in the ground is doing, is finding out the boring and shite commentators.

Sandoz is the worst
At the end of the day it's local radio, you're not to get an Ed Murrow or a Peter Jones.

Have total respect for Ange and all she has done for the area and scfc.
But ..... by working for Radio Stoke and, by virtue of club using the audio as part of their service, Stoke city - she risks being accused of conflict of interests. We, the fans, are being asked to pay £10 for what is a piss poor streaming product compared to our peers; - crap commentary that is meant for audio listeners, not viewers - no specific prematch build up or half time coverage. Have to listen to the likes of McGarry droning on about Crewe, etc.... Other clubs provide better in house produced content. Stoke can and should do better.
As chair of the council, is she really going to push the club to improve their offer?

Nigel was a teacher as his main profession. Angela was a professional squash player/coach. I think when you get down to Radio Stoke you don't need "qualifications" as a journalist to do the job. It isn't exactly Match of the Day is it? Even if it was, you'll find just as many objections from footy fans to some of the MOTD pundits as there are to Nigel and Angela. Personally, I find some of the comments on the Nigel thread equally distasteful as some of the comments on the Angela thread. Just my personal opinion. But there are loads of things on Social Media which I find are distasteful. It is one of the reasons why I refuse to have a Twitter account and why I keep the number of Facebook "friends" I have down to people I have some empathy with. I'm just a boring old fart really!

Crouch- I don't know any poster on here and I've got no issue with Angela (I would say that the supporters council is a complete waste of time!) What does make me laugh is that you were the third or forth to post on said thread and then about three or four pages in you jumped on the bandwagon saying it was disrespectful- you're a joke!!
