As a Villa fan I really hope he' doesn't go because he's the closest to a irreplaceable player I've seen at The Villa for donkeys,my main reason for optimism is one simple fact,he's said all his career all he wants to do is play every game he possibly can and at City he won't,here's hoping that fact keeps him with us, obviously the fact him and all his family are Villa through and through makes him going a lot less clear cut than the MSM would have us believe UTV Yeah cheers Staffs, I'd be heartbroken if the backbone of my team left too. IF he does go, sorry to see this for you and your fellow fans. A player who always stepped up for Villa, stepped up for England and I would have gladly had him here at Stoke.

Grealish is currently a better player than Phil Foden. Foden still has time on his side to improve. His stats with assists and goals are better than Sterling the last 2 seasons. He will definitely play a lot of games for City and is probably suited to their style of play. Mahrez was the main man at Leicester and struggled at first to get in the city team but is now a regular. I can see Grealish having the same slow impact but gradually growing into it. As well he will be winning Premier League medals and a regular in latter stages of Champions League. Pep seems to be buying a lot of English players. For me it can only be good news for the England team if half of them come from City and we try to play the same way. Potentially we can soon have Stones - Walker - Grealish - Foden - Sterling - Kane all playing for Man City and England - thats over half of the first-team playing together regularly at a top club with a top manager. I reckon Southgate will be licking his lips. Agreed. Its good to see that many regulars are in the same team, I think that only helps the National Side. Wrt, there's no way that even Man City would spend 100 million on a player and not have him as one of their main assets.

Can only be good for england getting them playing together week in week out and if kane goes to most of our players who play for England will be in the Manchester clubs

villa wouldn’t be able too offer him the 200/300 grand a week.. money talks.. good player.. should of be used in the euros alot more that’s for sure.. maybe being a Man City player will make Southgate put him in the first 11 more.. as we all know players for the elite clubs seem too play more than a player from a smaller club

Plus if pep plays him and foden together he can’t really get out of it then and the front 3 could be kane Sterling grealish perfect for England they will be playing everyday together the reason Germany n spain dominated for years cause all pretty much play for the same top team

I really don't want him to go to Man City, he's my favourite England player since Paul Gascoigne - I'll have to cut him off if he joins them.

Do worry Foden and Grealish may get rotated though. Not convinced a team with both those two and Kane will have enough pace in it.

Think there's talk that he plans to play Grealish deeper, alongside KDB. Not sure where that would leave Gundogan (who Pep absolutely loves) Rob and it would put a huge amount of pressure on Rodri/Fernandinho. More likely that one of Foden, Mahrez or Sterling will be on the bench, or that one of the latter two is actually sold. Despite his price tag, Grealish will almost certainly find himself on the bench at times during the season too.

Equally though, Pep does have that love of wanting to be be the smartest guy in the room and trying to convert players to new positions.

There’s a good video on YouTube where Jenas talks about his career regrets and how he doesn’t feel like he did enough to reach his potential. Not in an arrogant way “I could’ve been great” type thing (obv he was no grealish) but just a brutally honest and self-critical manner. Anyway, something he spoke about was how joining the England camp he could feel his level rise by being around the best players, and then when he went back to Newcastle he could feel it gradually slipping back from training with a less talented squad. It’s something I’ve never considered but you’d expect that joining Man City should make grealish even better. The romantic in you would like to see a player stay loyal to the club he supports, as I guess most of us tell ourselves that if we were a top class player we’d only play for Stoke, but grealish dropped into the 2nd division with villa and has been instrumental in their revival, so I guess there won’t be any grudges if he leaves. Specifically thinking about England though, it’d be a superb move for the rest of the country if it elevates grealish to an even higher level. Under guardiola you’d bet on that being the outcome.

Might be KDB picks up a slightly deeper role (makes sense to some extent give he’s getting older and probably won’t be able to play in the same dynamic way for much longer).

I think at the level these Premier League players are, money becomes important but a side issue compared to winning things. Ask Kane, who really should have left Spurs a few seasons ago. Grealish will move to win things, which Aston Villa cannot do for him.

Grealish will move to win things, which Aston Villa cannot do for him. On a positive note though, these kind of transfer fees can really help a team develop and kick on. Grealish is one world-class player, but he alone won’t get Villa into the Top 4. With intelligent scouting and smart coaching, at least 4 good players with the potential to be great can be brought into that Villa side. Already, I think Buendia is a terrific replacement for Grealish. I also don’t see a reason why Villa can’t negotiate for a player + cash swap with Mahrez or Bernardo Silva.

Great for all 3 parties in my opinion, Villa can reinvest wisely, Man City get one hell of a player who should fit into their style of play and Grealish gets to play and train with world class players
