Despite him being the captain and a superb striker, England as a team would be far better off with the more mobile Calvert-Lewin up top in front of Sterling/Sancho/Rashford than with Harry Kane.
Discuss.

Is he more mobile than Kane?
Calvert-Lewin is doing very well at the moment and is worth a look but better, it even a better fit, than Kane?
Nah, not for me.

He's definitely more mobile than Kane, the bloke is fucking rapid. Not the all round footballer though, hasn't got any creative presence and is more or less an out and out finisher. Suggestions that what's changed for him is that Ancelotti has him shooting with more or less his first touch, getting his shots off early and not dilly dallying... He's what you want off the bench imo. Rapid, tall, strong and a general nuisance who on current form looks ready to bury any chance he gets a sniff at. Kane is an unbelievably well rounded player who is under rated just because of the fact he is made of biscuits... That said I'm sick of seeing him play half fit, and if it's a half fit Kane vs. a fit Calvert Lewin you have a debate on your hands.

Kane's performance against Saints showed what a rounded striker he is, not just someone who scores goals but can track back and be a creative outlet too. DCL was shit until second half of last season onwards. He benefits a lot from having Richarlison and James alongside him. Be interesting to see if he could be a strike partner to Kane.

DCL has elite attributes for a natural striker, ideal characteristics for the role. Good finisher, in the air, mobile, movement, instinct. Looking to get 4 30+ games seasons in the PL under his belt at 23. The way Kane's role has evolved in recent times it'd be interesting to see a DCL - Kane partnership..
Not a fan of the Sterling, Kane, Sancho front 3, great names on paper but there isn't a natural balance there, profiles aren't right

Last England game I watched was the World Cup semi final but you'll struggle to find a striker with the ability and all round play of Kane. Sterling was awful v Croatia and not replacing him was the reason they lost for me. on the fence re Sancho.
Mentioned above, Kane v Soton was the ultimate all round striker's display for me, The guy is something else

Kane is a quality player. Calvert lewin is having a rare purple patch which will no doubt lead to a mega move only to never replicate this form.

Sadly England defence is average on a good day which is why Southgate can't decide whether to stick with 433 or go safer with 5 at the back

Why not play them together?. England's defense is weak as piss so we might as well try and outscore teams.

There is definitely room for them both in the squad.
To my mind Calvert-Lewin’s phenomenal start to this season does not trump Kane’s six consecutive 20+ goal seasons and excellent England record when selecting our no. 9.
But if Calvert-Lewin carries on playing at anything like this level for the rest of the season my feeling may change by the time the Euros come around.

Calvert-Lewin rapid... I’ve read it all now on here. He’s been a donkey until this season, hope it continues for him but Harry Kane is Harry Kane.

Calvert-Lewin really started improving last season, this hasn't come from nowhere. Ancelotti has clearly worked with him as an elite level coach and he's worked hard to improve. He offers something different from Kane, as does Ings - I'd have all three in the squad.

The only question mark around Kane is his pace. But I wouldnt call him slow.
He can hold up the ball, bring players into the game, be physical and dominant, and a great strike on him.
Plus he has scored goals for fun for 4 seasons now.
We just need a good back-up if he gets injured.

Calvert-Lewin has always been talented and had a good season last season too, so I don't know where this stuff about just this season has come from?
Kane is obviously a very good player but I don't feel he works for England and I think having Rashford or even Sterling in there with Rashford on the left would improve England as a team.
Calvert-Lewin definitely should be in the squad, as should Kane. It's a great place to be.

You could never drop Kane for Calvert-Lewin, Kane can score from everywhere, his passing is superb, holds the ball up well, wins freekicks in dangerous areas, he's as good as and probably better than Shearer. Calvert-Lewin has started the season well but let not get carried away yet, he needs to do it all season not just a handful of games.
He's knocked on the door and perhaps earned a call up that's about it. Potential is there though and I will be hoping as much as everyone else that he keeps it up. Competition for squad places is always good.

Echoing what a lot of my fellow posters have said. Calvert-Lewin began to improve last season.
Wasn't long ago that the likes of myself were saying Everton are totally powderpuff with him and Richarlison up front.
He is definitely developing as a player and he can only continue doing what he is doing.
I'll add a caveat that West Brom were down to 10 and picked off at will and West Ham were not full strength. The counter argument to that is he still has to put the ball in the onion bag.
A potential really good player but at this moment isn't a patch on Kane.

Will never understand the desire to see Kane out of the England side. Kane is a complete forward, and has played brilliantly for England countless times against quality opposition. I honestly think there's an argument to be made that aside from his finishing, he's actually our most creative attacking player. His 4 assists for Son the other week were all absolutely top-drawer, and difficult to imagine coming from any other player in the England set-up. Unfortunately his whole career he has been played into the ground, and has a couple of times been rushed back too soon and ended up being very ineffective.

He offers something different from Kane, as does Ings - I'd have all three in the squad. Agree. And Kane is the best striker of all three currently no argument. But is he the best player for the team as whole was my point as I think we often looked laboured and sluggish as an attacking force? England have picked on reputation and not the best XI players to make the system work for as long as I can remember, I just think that Calvert-Lewin might bring the best out of the others.......

Calvert-Lewin should 100% be in the squad. If he's not it makes a mockery of the selection process tbh.

I can understand why people like Sterling and Rashford but Kane for me has to play, his range of goals is far greater than anything we have in the squad. He score inside the box, outside, dangerous on corners, clinical at penalties, he scores with both feet, his head, he's an all-round forward and he can also play behind a striker if needed. Sterling and Rashford are too wasteful, Sancho is much better and eventually you would expect Greenwood will be the best player ever to play for England. There are so many ways to play these players it's ridiculous what options we have but for me if Kane is fit he plays somewhere and he doesn't need to be sacrificed. Calvert-Lewin is a backup player and nothing more at the moment. It's hard to place him because Grealish should be in the England team too, so much competition up front it's pretty amazing.
