A few 'randoms' Imbula looks a fantastic player. Paul Randall will score loads of goals for us. Stoke fans will never expect Paul Richardson and/or Alan Suddick to replace Hudson surely? Even if they do they won't boo them because they're not will they? Inviting a Brum supporting friend to join me for the home match on Jan 10 1998 with the words- 'We'll hammer you obviously, but it'll be fun'!

In recent times, Tyrese Campbell.
I wrongly wrote him off far too early. Turns out it was just chronic mismanagement from Mad Nathan (surprise).ch
What a talent.

You weren't wrong. A Pulis team would never have beaten Liverpool 6-1, Man City 2-0, finished 9th three seasons on the trot etc, signed Arnie and Shaq etc. The bad decision was not getting rid of Hugehs earlier and then replacing him with Lambert. Agree with what you are saying. I know it may sound weird to some but if I had the choice of Pulis years or Hughes years I would pick Pulis. I think it was the fact we were expected to go down and proving people wrong was great. When we got players like arnie, shaq, bojan etc we all expected to do well taking away the edge like the loudest ground in football it all went a bit quiet when we expected. Every manager has a shelf life though. The feelgood factor had gone under Pulis- the football was getting worse, results were getting worse, it was all pointing to one thing. At the time, it was the right move to part company, and that doesn't take anything away from the promotion season, the first year up, the cup final, the Europa League or anything else. It's easy to look back and misremember the last couple of years under TP because there'd been so much good that had gone before, but we were absolutely awful for his last season in charge. What came after proved there could be more than just grimly grinding out 40 points every year.

Standing on the Boothen Paddock during a reserve game and thinking Lou had pulled off another masterstroke by signing Kofi Nyamah from Kettering
Signing Tommy Mooney on loan. He got sent off soon after and hardly played.
Dave Brammer being the 'missing link'
More recently, Wilson Palacios, Wilfried Bony and Tom Ince.

I thought we were stupid to sign Delap with a broken leg.
He now has my vote for the most effective and influential player of our recent history.

Imbula. After two games I thought he was going to rule the premier league.
His failure reflects his attitude not his ability.

Stan Collymore described Olifinjana as a player that “will go on to be better than Patrick Vieira” when he signed for Stoke. I took his word for it.
Which means Stan was wrong, and so was I.

I honestly thought Nathan Jones' self belief and diamond formation would get us top six.

That Chris Waddle as player manager would be a better than the 2nd coming of Macari(I was at high school and believed Waddle would get all the players play like him)
Telling anyone who would listen Sammy Bangora was good enough player to play for United or Liverpool
Jon Walters wouldn’t amount to a great deal at Stoke

I thought his football was atrocious and awful in a lot of his tenure. But in hindsight, I believe he resurrected our Club. He built a platform for Sparky to perform on. Discussions like this seem to have a distinct vanilla flavour at the moment don't they.?

Thought Odemwingie would be wank Thought Pericard would be okay Thought Hughes would be a disaster from day one, not from when he’d lose the spine Thought Fuller and Jones would be unstoppable Thought Rowett would be Pulis MKII (in a good way)

Luton Town away in mid-90s and watching Gordon Marshall on his debut in the pre-match warm up and turned to my mate and said he looks a decent keeper. He went on to let in 6 and got worse with every game.

I thought Imbula would not only fill a gap left by Nzonzi, but improve it (and I was an enormous Nzonzi fan)

Been wrong about pretty much everything, so much easier to talk about what I got right:
Berahino - couldn't understand LMH's efforts to sign this guy, nor the wild optimism from some fans when he finally "got his man". Was confident we'd stay up in our first season in the prem. Whenever there was money available on Betfair at below 2.0 (ie evens) I was snapping it up.
The other 99.9% of predictions I've made were bollocks
