Football is in its own bubble and in the Premier League has more than enough money to support young footballers. That hasn’t answered my question though? I know if I got let go from work tomorrow, they wouldn’t give a shit and I suspect that would be the same for all us on here. I’d love to know what industries look after former employees they have let go when a contract has ended? When I were a lad I was an apprentice at a well known national housebuilding company. We were going through a period of rampant inflation so houses weren't selling . One Friday I was called into the site managers office and told not to come in on Monday morning. Nothing else. No thanks for your efforts we'll find you another job elsewhere just bugger off we don't want you anymore. I'd worked there for 6 months I was 17 years old. My career as a brickie in tatters. I didn't mope around for the next 40 years bemoaning how I'd been rejected and badly treated. I just cracked on and got another job because it was called the real world not the sterile, rarefied bubble that is professional football. Oh and I was being paid £25 a week.

Yeah and I would imagine that would be the same for most of us. It’s why I don’t get stuff like that link. Like when the parents of an ex Man City who commited sued Man City and were claiming similar stuff. It’s tragic but anywhere else (on the whole) it wouldn’t even be considered to be the former employees liability.

It wasn't the most pleasant experience I've ever had but it wasn't the end of the world. I changed direction and never looked back. And it didn't need my mum and dad to go stomping up to the head offices of Barrett Homes demanding redress either. I bloody hate Twatter and Faceache.

They didn’t fly you around in their helicopter looking for a new job? For shame Barrett Homes!

Boo hoo. Just having Man City on your youth CV doesn’t make you a good player. I might make a long post later about how unfair it is that I haven’t won the lottery yet, quite clearly I deserve to. Stoke probably signed him, because he was an ex-City player. We tend to do that a lot.

I don't understand some of the responses on this thread.
We don't know what actually happened but the main comments aimed at the lad seem to be 'tough shit'.
The fact he was not good enough is irrelevant, clubs have a duty of care. That somebody may have been sacked in a ruthless manner 30 years ago means very little to this situation. I've heard rumours that some members of staff are far less pleasant than other members. Might be true, might not be.
Maybe Stoke City is a rotten place to work. Wouldn't be a shock.

They asked him to leave, he didn’t, he got paid. Not sure what else they should do?

It is a difficult, competitive and ruthless environment and many clubs make mistakes about many players.
The fact that he's run to social media to bleat about it is perhaps indicative that he isn't really made of the "right stuff" to make it.
He must surely have an understanding of the world in which he was operating by now. If you aren't good enough or fail to prove you are good enough you will be cast aside pretty damn quickly. It's happened to far better players than Corrigan who was actually pretty hopeless by all accounts and worse than hopeless on the 2 occasions I watched him play.
