Just don’t see how this will work for me.
Three local pubs in my village are recommending that you should ring in advance and book a table. That is not what going to the pub is about and I foresee a few problems.
People will be booking tables and then either not turning up or late, whilst in the meantime regulars are being turned away.
Personally I would prefer at the moment not to go indoors at my local(s), and would be happy to have a pint passed out to me in the car park or garden and maintain social distancing. There is obviously going to be a big difference between Town and City centre pubs, and more local community houses.
Can not wait for a pint but after all this time I am not going to risk it, how do others feel about the reopening of Pubs and Restaurants?

They are only letting 25 in at a time and there’s a two and a half time limited. Can see some turbo boozing coming up and that’ll be another problem no doubt.

I can see it being a bit of a shambles. I was reading a post from a pub grub pub and they had set out the instructions very clearly: kid's play area closed, book in advance, order at the table etc. The first question asked under the post? Will the kid's play area be open? I plan to give it a couple of weeks to iron out the system before I even contemplate a trip out.

Please feel free to merge although there is a slight difference in the theme. ⚓️
Ps As a member of the grumpy old men I agree kids should not be in pubs also🤔

I think you might be missing the point I was making. If the "general public" apparently can't understand that "the kid's play area" is closed means the kid's play area is closed then there is no chance that they will be able to understand the more nebulous rules and guidelines around ordering, social distancing, use of the toilets etc.

Just wanted to point out that kids shouldn’t have been in pubs before all this and they certainly shouldn’t be in there after it. Kids play areas should all be closed down to make space for extra seating. I mean there’s loads of places where kids can go and enjoy themselves in these indoor places which cater specifically for kids isn’t there 🤷🏻♂️

Or any age, if it comes to that. And...... Here's a vote in favour of kids in pubs as long as they are in a separate room (lounge, or somewhere) and are quiet, we ll behaved and respectful of their surroundings. I (and my three brothers) spent too many afternoons sitting in the back of an Austin Maxi (or similar) for hours and hours on end with nowt but a bag of crisps and a small bottle of pop for company to object to kids being saved from that torture.

I thought the kid's play area was the bar where parents allow them to run around and ignore them for an hour and a half whilst sat staring into their phones.

It's disturbing that they are allowing the pubs to open first, on a Saturday.
Wouldn't it make more sense to start them off on a Monday or Tuesday to 'bed things down' a bit, before full-on crowds on Friday and Saturdays?

Haven't been in a Pub since last year.
The way things are with Stoke City at the moment, I may just start going again.

Yay, have been able to book a table for 18th July. First date available.
My issue however is the system, which requires me to sit at a table. I'm a Bar Leaner and like to stand at the bar. That way I can be seen properly, and I can give informed opinionated addresses to the assembled company, on subjects such as "how the fat German King George III lost the British American Colonies"

Post Office Vaults in Burslem have requested social distancing to be reduced to 2 centimetres. One customer at a time won't work well there will it being about 2ft square. They should put a sign up 'serious drinkers only, must be able to down at least a gallon in one hour'. It's those people who sit with a glass of tonic water for two hours who will put the final nail in pubs.

It’s going to be carnage and a mess. Already pubs are moving away from the government guidance on retaining customer details to assist contact tracing. news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-pubs-can-open-at-6am-tomorrow-as-lockdown-measures-are-relaxed-12020362At the end of the day the pubs will be so desperate to get their hands on money I reckon that only small, proper pubs with regular locals will behave sensibly. Your chains like Walkabout, sports bars etc will be rammed with the usual pissed chavs wanting to fight the world and grabbing hold of each other like some sort of brothers in arms. I will be biding my time before I will be going to the pub.

Saturday Day One.
A good result for Stoke today and things are looking a little better. 😀
So who went to the Pub either before or after the game? More importantly how was it ?
Had the weather been better I would have ventured down to sit outside, but decided not to bother as it was not worth the risk.
Hopefully any teething problems may be soughted out and I will get a pint tomorrow. 🤪🍺⚓️

Queues outside several pubs here in Surrey, people spilling out looked absolutely lashed by mid afternoon.
