Not his fault. To be fair even the Sheff U players stopped their protests once a goal wasn't signalled. With it looking so obvious and player reaction, couldn't he have gone have a look at it on his screen? Bet he wished he would have done now. True but we've seen Arse players surrounding refs for a shot that wasn't in. I guess the ref just assumes it's correct as has been so far and can't blame him.

Hypothetically, if Sheff Utd miss out on a top 5, or Villa escape relegation by the finest of margins because of this incident and result, will they or other teams take legal action, as Hawkeye have now publicly admitted it was a fault? Have Hawkeye ever claimed it is 100% accurate. ? good answer, however, at such crucial timing, and such a monumental mistake with an immediate public apology, surely if it came to it, some legal expert could find a way?

With the money involved i should imagine Hawkeye have covered themselves. It's near perfect technology, it just needs VAR to step in if it has missed something.

The system is fundamentally flawed then ... they've admitted it. They surely can't continue to use it, until the issue is addressed, can they? What if the same thing happens in another match? It seems that way Paul. Mr Clattenburg has his say

Have Hawkeye ever claimed it is 100% accurate. ? Yeah, pretty much ... "The system is millimetre accurate, which ensures that no broadcast replays could disprove the decision." Fractional if over at all. Wonder if the tech mistook the keepers glove for another inch of ball? Fractional? I believe the standard mesh size for goal nets is 120mm and in the top photo the ball is 1 piece of mesh behind the line! Just blown up the top picture and from that angle it does look that way. Love to see what the goal line tech saw. Just read above, it got blocked - doh!

This is why talk of legal action against hawkeye is just nonsense. The game changes if the goal is given, you can’t just presume Sheffield United would have gone on to win.

It happened to us in it’s first season in our first game at Hull when Shawcross scored the equaliser and the watch never went off for the ref but the linesman gave the goal

What a load of bollocks. It's football. Shit happens. Clubs are on the wrong end of decisions that impact game loads of times during a season and have been for 150 odd years.

What's wrong with the officials using their eyes? They are becoming too reliant on this technology and have forgotten how to make decisions based on what they actually see, either that or they're too shit scared to.

I've been wondering for quite a long time when the day would come when a club would sue for damages due to a clear miscarriage of justice in a match. Looks like that day is approaching.
The game ceased to be sport a long time ago, became entertainment, but now is all about big business.
