Is this where someone has to quickly turn the goal line technology on at half time

Surely that's a goal for Sheffield?
Looked clearly over the line? Goal line technology says it wasn't?? VAR don't even bother to take a look?
Hoping to see the goal line technology slow motion of that at half time.

Had the commentary on 5live for 5 mins. Sounded awful- the commentators were wank (dont know who they were) and sounds like a friendly (as to be expected)

Surely VAR couldve got involved there? Useless. That's an interesting point you raise ... has VAR been used in the past to establish if a ball has crossed the line? Or does the Ref's buzzer on his wrist supercede it, meaning that VAR wouldn't be used?

VAR isn't used for the ball crossing the line, that's why they have goal line technology. The ref can only assume it's correct.

Unfuckingbelievable.....what is the reasoning behind that goal not being given,it was obvious to every one it was over the line, what’s the point in even having a ref? Having watched that half and the endless falling over at the slightest nudge and a free kick being given every time I’m wondering why the fuck I was so ridiculously excited about the restart of the footy.

Technology isn't working is it? That was clearly over the line. What I don't get is why on earth is goal line technology being affected?! Bizarre.

It's pretty shit technology when quite clearly to the naked eye it's over the line.
Where's the goal line technology replay? We won't see it as this is a massive balls up.
VAR is there for clear and obvious errors and goal line technology has made a clear error.

The quality isn't even championship level. Terrible game so far, shit officials, it's as if we never stopped for months. Bet countries around the world have turned off as well as many in this country. Not what the premier league were after so far.

They said on Sky that as it was the same passage of play - after the goalkeeper threw the ball out - that VAR could have overruled the goal line technology?! So why didn't it? I think someone really did forget to turn on the goal line technology.
Imagine this finishes 0-0 and Villa stay up by a point/or on goal difference at the end of the season. What's the point of VAR then?

If the officials are 100% sure they can refer it but to be fair they will take the decision of GLT

Would it be fair to assume that Sky haven't shown the goal line graphic that normally acompanies such a decision because either the technology wasn't turned on, or because it is faulty?

To be fair with it being touch and go to the naked eye they didn't which can understand

Really don't know why Michael Oliver gets well talked about. I think he's shit and always been shit. Fast tracked by the FA. Think his first game was a stoke match away at Preston and he had an absolute mare, and continued to do so for me.

VAR = video assistant referee why couldn't it assist the ref? Technology is supposed to stop these howlers!

With regard to another post on here, shouldn’t the goalkeepers balls have been disinfected? They had clearly left the field of play by some margin?

To be fair even the Sheff U players stopped their protests once a goal wasn't signalled.
