Let’s hope he’s the only one. I hope he gets well soon as good health is more important than anything else.

"Stoke were rushed out of the Academy very quickly indeed. United's officials didn't hang about – they had Stoke out of there really quickly as you'd imagine." The state of that sentence. Obviously jizzing himself at the prospect of getting Covid 19 and MUFC in the same dream headline.

Shit, I hope this isnt an omen. Firstly I hope mon is strong in fighting off covid but secondly just as things start to seem to be going well this throws a spanner in the works. Surely though even in the small group work mon will have had contact with most of the squad and staff in the last 5 days, this could be just the start Not too hard for a manager to maintain a 2 metre distance from the players.

He'll have been barking instructions from more than 2m away I imagine and always outside.

There's no way we should have to play without the manager.

You got to ask yourself how's he suddenly caught it after being tested before negative, just don't understand how anyone can catch it if they have social distance and keeps washing your hands

He won't be keeping a 2 metre distance now though will he John? It can be clearly demonstrated that he (and that's the important bit) has turned the clubs fortunes around this season, with the same group of players that the previous incumbent had available. So why should we now go into games at an absolutely monumental disadvantage (I don't think this can be disputed) if he has to stay away from his players completely?

He just need to isolate for 7 days, then retest at 7 and 10 days. Both need to be negative to allow return. Hopefully thats the case meaning he will be back for Reading

Well firstly, all the very best to MON, wishing him a very speedy and a full recovery. Secondly, what a complete and utter nonsense this whole shit show is. I have been of the opinion from the very start of this whole nightmare that the season should be declared null & void. Well over 50,000 covid related deaths in this country, completely mismanaged by the fucking government who really are the biggest bunch of slimey, snidey, creepy, lying bastards I've ever seen coupled with their Tory donor's who rule football as in Murdoch/Sky who are collaborating to put money before human lives - no shock whatsoever, they're fucking Tories. Football is (was) for the people & created by the people so if there can't be crowds then there quite simply shouldn't be any football until it is safe. It's about money and nothing else.

They've never suspended games before when managers have been ill, it's happened a hundred times I think the difference here PL, is, is he so ill that the can't actually coach his players (the examples you are talking about), or is he perfectly capable of coaching his players but he is being banned from his club because he's perceived as being a threat to others?

So why should we now go into games at an absolutely monumental disadvantage (I don't think this can be disputed) if he has to stay away from his players completely? Once they made the decision to finish the season behind closed doors, I think it became inevitable that things like the manager or your best player going down with the virus was not going to stop the season being completed. If they allowed one team not to complete the season I don't see how they could come up with a way to decide any situations not resolved such as a relegation.

It's a shit situation but just to clarify ^just touching a door handle" doesn't transfer the virus, touching your face after touching said door handle spreads the virus. Washing hands or using sanitiser before touching your face should help prevent it.

From the EFL... Those players or Club staff who have tested positive will self-isolate in line with the guidelines provided by the EFL and only those who have tested negative will be permitted to enter training ground facilities. Which is why testing is so important for everyone!!

Are we really debating how he caught the virus ffs? Someone might have coughed in his face for all we know. It’s infected ~5,000,000 in this country as a lower bound based on serology. Chances are someone at the club would eventually test positive.
All that matters now is that he’s isolated as quick as possible, the players are thoroughly tested and assessed and he recovers.
Get well soon Michael.

So what if (say) six of your first team players and manager all test positive at the same time? Not necessarily actually ill but just test positive? The whole thing will turn into a farce ...

Probably from the beach, all the evidence suggests catching it from a surface is small the main and most likely way is from face to face contact
