There's not much footage online from around this era, with Kammy and Spider in the side.......but what a chance young Spider had in the dying moments of this game, and how the FORK did Clifford stay on the park after that foul ! blatant

We actually tried to sign Niall Quinn a few months before, think was 300k as he had transfer listed himself but was wishful thinking more than reality I think

Forgotten all about that game
A side heading for relegation to the third tier v the Champions of England would be no contest at all now. It was actually a reasonably competitive match.
Standard Stoke FA Cup result though

The famous SCORELINE strip with the red pin stripes, who the FORK were scoreline ?? The letters started falling off the shirt. The ones you bought not the players ones. flat game. We never showed the grit associated with giant killers.

I think it was 48 years ago today that Stoke played Arsenal in an FA Cup Semi Final at Villa Park - result was 1-1. Replay was the infamous match held at Goodison. I was just 17 years of age and at my third FA Cup Semi Final - time flies! See report re the replay - www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-arsenal-fa-cup-2119785 it was the four semi finals that caused the animosity towards Arsenal that still exists nealy 50 years on!

Scoreline did a few shirts that season. Not sure if this was the shirt that originally had a Grandad collar on the pre season team photos but when they turned up in bulk were a different design shirt.

Remember it well. Was sat in the Butler Street stand with my dad and a Pink Panther. 😃 Was in the Butler as well I liked Niall Quinn as had played GAA against my cousin as a kid and they kind of knew each other, a very popular fella. Was as I said a real push to sign him as he was fed up at Arsenal and us and WBA were keen but hardly a great attraction at the time. This goal got him a bit of interest and Man City signed him a couple of months later and he had a great season. Never heard a bad word said about him.

I was there aged 10. The Boothen felt more monstrous than usual that day. Noticed Dixon. Did Bould play? Did they get warm receptions?

I’m pretty sure Adams got a lot of abuse(donkey noises) as he left the pitch that day from the paddock

One of Ball's few good signings to be fair. I remember Kamara nearly sending Kevin Richardson onto the A500 with one tackle

Always love the Cliffard Carr (As Jimmy Hill called him) pull down on Perry Groves! How he never got a yellow nevermind a red was baffling watching it back now after all this time as it was live on the day!
Remember a tannoy announcement during the game warning Arsenal fans that there were pickpockets working in the away end & to keep their valuables safe! Funny things you remember!!

I can remember two things from that day.
I was in the Butler Street Stand and in Charlie Brown's as an underage drinker before the match.

Bizarre how your memory works. I was convinced this was a league cup tie. I was convinced Adams got the winner, and I was convinced the goal was scored in bright daylight (not under floodlights) until watching that back.

Was a 3 pm game My memory had got the goal being scored in bright daylight, which would be pretty impossible if it was a league cup game anyway. That said I see clips from games much more recent that I was definitely at, and can’t remember a damn thing about them.

What I remember was the crowd , well around us assuming when the ref pointed to the touchline that he'd ordered Cliff Carr off but then he ran into the box to defend the free kick. Was an awful decision.
