What would you have done, wrote him a letter and said please don't do it again? A leaflet campaign perhaps ? Nothing and moaned on line about it afterwards ? He didn't attack anyone or throw a punch just went to help out a family member getting abuse from some coward. Which he shouldn’t do. And it looks like he does more than tbh. That's not even a sentence but ok

Full respect. I'd rather that than a bunch of no marks running around cupping their ears from the relative safety of the pitch. Good lad. Or people giving abuse from the stand then crying on line when someone cups their ear at them. Pathetic isn’t it? They are the same ones who would piss their pants and run off if a player decided to do what Dier did, just like the little pussy in the video did.

Are we missing the bit where the fan was having a go at his family and how would Dier know this was the case from that distance? I have no problem with Dier standing up for himself or his family but we’re having to make some assumptions on what’s being shown. ... maybe his brother texted/spoke to him at halftime and tolld him what was going on Possible but we’re still missing the bit of information on what was going on. I really don’t have a problem with him doing this if something inappropriate has happened but we’re missing a chunk of what happened.

To be fair I can pick out people I know at our ground in the far stands as I know where they sit . I'm sure he knows where his family are and can see them from the bottom of the stand. 'Some on here would be Olympic athletes with the jumping to conclusions going on here' Mourinho pretty much said in his interview

You love swimming against the tide, it's quite funny In fairness who's to say he wasn't on the march to the bogs? I mean, it's like a moronic stoke fan throwing a pie and saying it slipped surely?!....

Whilst I can completely understand why he did it and don't disagree with him, the FA have to impose a ban as they can not allow players to think it's ok to do so either.

He shouldn't go marching into the crowd like that and we all know it.

Personal view, if a fan enters the pitch to confront a player he gets a big ban. Why would it therefore be ok for a player to enter the stands to confront a fan?

We're missing a piece of information but initially on the thread it came out in support of Dier but due to the missing piece of information it could equally be against Dier.

Yup, there's that line, quite literally and he crossed it. Presumably because it is against the law to enter the field of play, and it is against the terms of entry (as on the ticket you buy) to enter the field of play. If he isn't banned, altercation or not, the FA will be going against their own guidelines. Overexhuberant celebrations are worthy of a yellow card (and this includes encroaching into spectator areas); violent conduct warrants a red which, in turn, is a minimum 3 match ban. The FA have to act on this.

And Dier might have got himself banned for the Euro's too. If the FA have any balls he will. What he has done is bang out of order. No you're right he was out of order and in a perfect world he shouldn't have done it but we don't live in a perfect world and human emotions sometimes take over even the most perfectly controlled specimens. Except of course you Bayern hey I suspect non of us on here really know what happened but I would suggest that the rapid departure of 'orange hood' when Dier jumped into the stand is a pretty good indication that he knew he was the one 'bang out of order'. Quite what Dier would have done had the bloke stood his ground would have been very interesting to watch.

How many fans who have been banned for entering the pitch to confront a player did so because the player personally abused them? I'm not condoning what Dier did. He should and will get punished.

Law or not, it would be wrong if the FA did nothing for a player confronting a fan, when a fan would get a heavy penalty for confronting a player.

PS I'm not sure which bit you're disagreeing with or who you're describing as a 'fanny'?

Respect to the lad, fans are far too comfortable sitting far away abusing people.
He wouldn't do it to his face so he shouldn't get away with doing it 20 rows away.
