Pleased for my Geordie mates who’ve followed them up and down the country, but echo what other people have said about the Saudi regime which is abhorrent. That said it would be a bit rich for football fans to be expected to take the moral high ground when our own government are in bed with a country that in many ways is still stuck in the dark ages. On the plus side tea towel sales appear to have gone through the roof which is great for the local economy…… tea towel sales what do you mean?

Bunch of idiots throwing beer. Great. I rest my case. I don’t understand that either, launching beer or whatever drink into the air… why? It’s not spontaneous but pre planned, it’s both a waste of beer and also looks fucking juvenile. I’ll climb down from my soap box now 😂

If anyone has a problem with Newcastle, or football generally, getting into bed with the Saudis perhaps they could direct a bit of that problem towards our own Government first, seeing as they have been doing it for decades. Yep. I feel a bit queazy about Stoke being bankrolled by gambling but throw me snake eyes and call me Lemmy, this pales into the smallest of insignificance compared to this news. I was thinking the same. Our club is paid for largely by profiting on one of the most addictive vices going. I’d rather we were funded by something more ethical but as someone who has a couple of betting accounts (promotions led) and someone who has the odd bet when I can afford to I’m not going to sound off that they shouldn’t be in charge. I understand that a brutal regime the Coates are not, and I’d still rather we had them than some disinterested consortium who want a new play thing.

I'd be happy with Stoke being owned by the Devil if it meant winning the Premier league and I'm sure most would agree, all this outrage is rubbish. I'd even throw in sacrifices if that would help us win.

People seem to expect these Arabs to have the same ethics and and morals that we have in this country. Don't forget not long ago before oil was discovered there these people were uneducated, uncivilised people wandering around the desert with their camels and goats, with which their wealth was measured. Their lives have changed dramatically in a very short while with regard to wealth, but they are still culturally and ethically peasants!

The new owners have passed the PL "Owners and Directors" test, so I can't see what the problem is Plain brown envelopes under the table come to mind. This is why regulation of football is long overdue. Nah, just £1billion as payment for illegally streaming matches from there over the last few years

Anyone who slings beer around like this is a massive cunt in my book, and they should be banned from buying it, for life.

I honestly would not like this to happen to Stoke.
Apart from the human rights abuses, just the money being involved is going to make football even worse with this Saudi take over.
Newcastle will become a part of the big 7 now and the owners will push for some European Super League.
Mike Ashley was a prick but Toon fans and the likes of Shearer celebrating this dirty oil money is another sad day for football.
The long term repercussions of this cannot be good for the beautiful game.
And as I say I genuinely would never want this to happen down Stoke.

If football clubs and participants had a conscience they would simply put banners up of all the atrocities, abuses and refuse to play them. But then wouldn't that then apply to all British clubs and who are we to preach when we're called Bet365. ok someone's free choice how they waste they money is not the same as slavery in SA, the murder of Kashoggi etc but don't Brits have a shameful past, the Germans, the Belgians etc? ok there is the past and present with SA being evil in the now, I wonder wheter people/fans will be allowed to protest at the grounds in the same way thick Geordies can throw beer around. Personally I wouldn't like it happening at Stoke and feel a bit embarassed about our owners having made money out of gambling, which tends to exploit the poor, weak, desperate, addicted, to make them worse, while they become so very rich as result.

Tunisia has advanced considerably. I referred in an earlier post to Lawrence of Arabia becoming a savage murderer. Here is the "no prisoners" clip from the movie.

The long term repercussions of this cannot be good for the beautiful game. And as I say I genuinely would never want this to happen down Stoke. I actually agree. For me, as a fan, a moral compass has to set somewhere! Football is full of hypocrisies and unholy alliances. It's pretty shit let's face it, a bit like society in general in this respect. The world is fucked up, you've only got to read some of the posts on here to realise that. Football was always run by dodgy blokes, but at one time these blokes owned things like long haulage companies in the areas where the football clubs were based. This is quite another level and it takes globalisation to another level and further diminishes the community element of football. Though Stoke are owned by a huge global corporation, the owners are born and bred Stokies and emotionally linked with our club, that makes a huge difference to me as a fan tbh But if you ask the question, is this taking the game in a good direction? It would be hard pressed to come up with a Yes. Pointing out the hypocrisy in some of the opposition to this is one thing, but actively supporting it is quite something else in my view. Of course, it happens whatever we think. But let's see what transpires.

This puts us down to the 5th richest owners in the UK.
Newcastle’s new owners are 20 times richer than Man City’s. Just let that soak in - 20 times richer.

Apparently this "takeover" is big news, extending beyond the limits of the football world.
I have just found a major item on the BBC News Pages, headlined as "A Sleeping Giant is about to Wake up".
I opened it in the expectation that it was the BBC take and follow up to Ian Holloway's comment about Stoke City on this theme on the Quest football review programme last Saturday following our great Friday victory over West Brom. Imagine my disappointment when I found that it was about some football club in Newcastle, and not even our local Newcastle, but somewhere near Scotland, so not even any local interest there.
