We're bound to experience a loss one of these days that will bring all the fantasy talk crashing down to earth. We may well experience a string of bad results at some point that will bring out the doomsday fans.
I think we'll finish somewhere around 15th. I feel optimistic for next season though.

We can gain 15 points on one team. There are 12 we need to worry about though. A few of them will go on a run that will put it out of reach even if we are top form in the league.

I don't want to get carried away......just happy with the progress, but just had a look at Fulhams crazy promotion season when they put that mad run of games together that catapulted them from match day 17 in 17th to finishing 3rd. I think we're a bit too late but it does suggest it can be done! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017%E2%80%9318_Fulham_F.C._season

Fulham had 42 points from 28 games the season they went up in the playoffs, they came with a wet sail

As well as we’re doing, an iffy run must be due soon. If we can get up towards mid table from where we were that would be fantastic. Next season could be properly exciting.

Weren’t they saying at Christmas that no team bottom of the Championship Christmas Day has ever stayed up?
Let’s get that done first 👍

Win 15 of 17 games? No Chance, and I am an optomist! That reminds me I need to get my eyes tested.

Fulham had 42 points from 28 games the season they went up in the playoffs, they came with a wet sail But they finished third on 88 points, the last play off spot was Derby on 75 . 13 points difference

Weren’t they saying at Christmas that no team bottom of the Championship Christmas Day has ever stayed up? Let’s get that done first 👍 No, it was something like only once or twice in the last 20 yrs. Still, historically the team bottom at Xmas almost always goes down.

We've been winning in second gear almost. We haven't needed extraordinary performances to win like we did under Jones.
It feels at the moment that it's not whether we win or lose, but whether we only grab a goal or completely turn them over. I think that's a combination of O'neil sorting us out defensively, so any good work isn't being needlessly undone and the form we are in creating a burgeoning confidence within the team.
A run of wins is not outlandish. That said, I still think mid table.

I'd be happy to fend off relegation for this season!!!
Promotion wouldn't be good for us.......not like we'd do it anyhow!!!

Finishing mid table from where we we're when O'Neil arrived some would say is a miracle, I thought we were gone and nobody would save us, Mid table this year push for top 6 next season is more realistic

Finishing mid table from where we we're when O'Neil arrived some would say is a miracle, I thought we were gone and nobody would save us, Mid table this year push for top 6 next season is more realistic But of course there are many posters looking like monkeys now. They didn't say "I think", they stated categorically that
We are down We are gone Only Poolis can save us League one here we come
My own feelings are that we could manage higher than mid table.

So just out of interest, is there any previous in league history of a team with 31 points or less after 29 games finishing the season in Top 6?

WI think we'll finish somewhere around 15th. I feel optimistic for next season though. This is the reality of how it is, and if it comes to pass it's a major triumph given where we were. Playoffs is cuckoo talk. If we finish 21st it's a massive success for this season.

I'm not wrong, we can't and we won't. Next season - perhaps. Rebuilding a club as shite as ours became takes a long time, certainly more than two games. I'm not being a party pooper, our recent turnaround has been incredible but let's not get carried away.

Let’s just keep the momentum going, and see where it takes us. The focus should be getting to safety as quickly as possible, while continuing to develop for a proper crack at the top six next season.
Must admit though, it’s nice to be looking at the points gap between us and those above us and worrying a bit less about those below.

If you want me to admit it's mathematically possible, then of course it is. It's also mathematically possible Luton won't go down. Neither of these things is very realistic though. we've won two consecutive games against top teams and kept a clean sheet in both, which is bloody fantastic, but it doesn't mean we're getting promoted. Avoiding relegation is where it's at and that is CERTAINLY mathematically possible.

Weren’t they saying at Christmas that no team bottom of the Championship Christmas Day has ever stayed up? Let’s get that done first 👍 Why invite pressure where it may not be necessary. If we keep getting enough points to keep us out of the bottom three, then we may find, at the end of the season, that we have accummulated enough to be in the top six! Dafter things have happened so why not dreams instead of nightmares?
