The search for a centre back suggests that Bruno is either off or nailed on for left back for the rest of the season, leaving Batth, Lindsay and a fragile Shawcross, as well as Collins, who seems not to be trusted as yet by MON.

Interesting in as much as half the recruitment team has left since the summer......reckon this one has been suggested to O’Neill?

I think it means that Collins is going out on loan.

I think it means that Collins is going out on loan. ...and that Souttar will stay out on loan, to experience the joys of a regular bollocking from Glenn Whelan every game!

I'd imagine this means Ryan's out for longer than expected?

He was very impressive at Celtic.Dissapointing if it meant Collins dropping down the pecking order.

I'd imagine this means Ryan's out for longer than expected? O'Neill hinted we couldn't put a date on him being fit ..... I don't think Collins will go out on loan even if we sign this fella

I think it means that Collins is going out on loan. That would be just wank and very very Stoke.

Not the one I was hoping, gave myself the smidgen of fading hope we'd be trying to loan Justin.
Collins out on loan then I guess if this does happen.

I think it means that Collins is going out on loan. For me, absolutely the wrong thing. Keep and give Collins game time and get in what we are absolutely desperate for......a proper left back.

I think it means that Collins is going out on loan. On the other hand, I think it means he can't afford to trust in Shawcross' fitness, even short-term, leaving Baath, Lindsay, Collins and AN Other (maybe Benkovic) as the main men. A position in which injuries can strike any time so timely to have an extra body. MON also knows Collins and will prefer him close at hand so why loan him for no advantage?

Stoke City are hoping to close in on two more signings at centre half and up front, The Sentinel can reveal.
Stoke’s hierarchy have made contact with two Premier League clubs over centre halves - and with a third top-flight club over a striker.

Not sure how important a CB is. We need one but not as badly as we need several other positions filling.
If we're not going to throw Collins on at the deep end, and it doesn't appear we are, I'd rather see him out on loan and getting game time than just hanging around the squad playing a bit-part role.

Can’t understand why we need another CB at all.
Batth Lindsay Collins Bruno Shawcross
Surely that’s more than enough cover (even allowing for injuries)

Can’t understand why we need another CB at all. Batth Lindsay Collins Bruno Shawcross Surely that’s more than enough cover (even allowing for injuries) No offense but I hope the powers that be are not thinking the same way: Collins - is not ready for football at this level. He desperately needs experience and game time, of which he has no chance of getting regularly at Stoke - he needs to be loaned out. Shawx - we cannot rely on him ever playing regular football for us again, so he really can't count as a number Batth/Lindsay - not good enough for a team that supposed to have aspirations of premier league football, Wolves fans told us that Batth was found out at this level(championship) and was not good enough for tier 2 footy. He has done alright in games, but he surely can't be all we aspire to, Lindsay has been, on the whole, appalling and again can't be good enough for a club with any ambition to move forward. Bruno - is having to fill in at full-back as the manager does not think he is good enough to compete with the other central defenders at the club - think that says it all. We need to get rid of a few and bring in 2 decent central defenders as a matter of urgency and while we are at it a right/left-back too. Defensively we are not far off catastrophic - we have no strength or depth in any position

Lindsay and Batth while far from ideal should be just about ok till the end of the season especially if Shawcross comes back into the picture. My point was we have bigger issues than CB (CB can be sorted out in summer)

I'd imagine this means Ryan's out for longer than expected? There is no way we can depend on Ryan given his struggles with injuries. So another CB is really important. Another injury/suspension & we are short in a critical area.

I've never heard of him but according to wiki Leicester paid thirteen million quid for this bloke a year and half ago and he hasn't got on the pitch for them for even 1 minute of a league game in 18 long months.

Speaking to a Leicester fan at work just he says Benkovic is a good player came off injured against Wigan but is a solid defender. He rates him highly and says be a good signing if he chooses Stoke
