To bow out gracefully I don’t think Stoke wanted to progress any further, especially as survival is so important Not really bothered myself

Wasn’t really that graceful though was it?
We’ve lost to Brentford U23’s without laying a glove on them.
I’m glad we’re out too but that was absolutely woeful.

Listening to MON after the Huddersfield game it was predictable. Our lot don't need an excuse to not 'put it in' and today they didn't!

I think we have a lot of players who need competitive games to develop. They can't all play in the Championship every week

Good run out for our fringe players ... which is where our short to mid-term future lies.

Agreed, they can shove the FA cup if it means we survive in the league.

Pretty disappointing not to either go for it, or go full academy / 2nd string. Either would’ve appeased those of us who travelled and paid to go.

Yep - what I wanted I'm ashamed to say. Never has the oft quoted "concentrating on the league" cliche been so deadly serious....

Draw would have been nice to have two games for MON to assess the squad further and minutes for some players.

The bit I saw it was almost like a friendly. That’s exactly what it was like. No real commitment from either side, just looked like a run out that neither side gave too much of a shit about.

The level of "urgency" we showed in the last ten minutes was embarrassing. Maybe that was why he played such a "strong" team - the younger fringe players might have tried a bit and risked going through.

Not sure why we bothered turning up - couldn't we have conceded the game before we started? To avoid any risk of winning. Not sure Brentford really wanted to win too.

I think we have a lot of players who need competitive games to develop. They can't all play in the Championship every week Tend to agree with you spit and I never understand this ok to lose mentality. It has no benefit. The liklihood is we would only play one maybe two more cup games if we had won today, it's hardly going to threaten the players stamina. And as you say there are quite a number of fringe players who can get match sharp and mon can assess them in a competitive game. Now neither of those things can happen.

Winning breeds confidence. We had a chance today to beat Brentford u23 and progress. However that pitiful lot played as if they couldn’t give a shit. Edwards Indi ince cousins woods Gregory all abysmal and clearly wanted a free weekend

Would have been nice to build up a bit of momentum though..
Still, if we beat Millwall next week, all will be forgotten

Some absolute nonsense on here. We looked like the only team that were going to score. Had all the ball and put on all the pressure. We never looked in any real danger other than a stupid fluke free kick where Davies positioning was poor.
Collins looked good, Cousins looked good. Campbell, Verlinden and Ngoy all had moments. Ince was absolutely shameful but he’s been consistent this season at that.

I just don't believe any manager wants to lose any game. Playing a weakened side may be necessary to protect key players, but its done in the hope that the reserve can step up, not to deliberately lose.

Ever since being a nipper, I have always wanted my team to do well in the cup competitions as it's the only thing we have the slightest chance of ever winning. Once the draw was made, we knew we were going out.
It just brings home how we have fallen that the height of the club's ambition now is to avoid relegation to league 1. If we achieve that then those in charge will see this as ''Success'' now that hurts.

Ince was absolutely shameful but he’s been consistent this season at that. Absolutely. Stoke controlled the first half until Campbell conceded a needless foul. I thought that Davies clapped at it rather than dealing with it properly. Have not seen on the box so I hope I am wrong. Campbell was running into channels in first half but a number of opportunities to put the ball through were spurned. He was better second half and sent some good crosses over. Ince looks to have lost all confidence and should have been taken off earlier. Verlinden had a poor effort when he could have passed. However, his second effort was just over the bar. I feel he must get his head up.

I'm crestfallen, have lived through 40 or 50 FA Cup exits, I can remember every single one of them...the draw without us, the dead Saturday. There isn't one iota of evidence to suggest a soul sapping FA Cup exit is the route to improved league form, not one

I think the future holds promise, even if not immediately.
