Today he had more key passes than Powell, Clucas and Campbell. Was our most accurate crosser and had better long ball accuracy than Bruno, Allen and Clucas. If you think Smith was the biggest problem today you need give your head a wobble. which boozer do you use before and after the game?

The OPTA Inn Did you attend or do you regard the OPTA as a footballing bible. The statistics that OPTA are quoting are unrecognisable to the game I saw.

About the worst player on the pitch. Which was an achievement because the only one who looked ok was Powell. I know you'd hate to admit it but Allen had a solid game today He did sod all of note.

I’m surprised about some of them, but overall Smith looked solid again today. Needs to offer Campbell an option as an overlap on the wing, but considering he was largely defending on his own again today, he never really struggled either.

Tommy Smith did a fair amount of overlapping but never got the ball to cross it

When did our players get so scared of running with the ball and taking a man on?

We look more defensively solid but we will never win enough games until we have full backs who can defend AND go past the wide man to open up the opposition and five us more width. Neither Smith or Indi gave us anything going forward today.

Neither Smith or Indi gave us anything going forward today. Very few teams have two 2 attacking full backs, so I would be more than happy just having one who is more creative. Tommy Smith is one of the most beige of footballers. He does nothing particularly badly, but neither can I think of anything he does particularly well. (It would help him be a bit more positive if he opened his body up a bit more to receive the ball from the centre halves to give him the option to move down the line). He will never look great while Batth takes an age to decide to pass, chalks his cue, lines it up, thinks about it and then gently rolls the ball out to him but a "proper" left back this month would make him seem a better player.

It’s mad to read in this thread how negative the comments about the back four after the Millwall game were and contrast them to comments tonight.
Two clean sheets in a row, one against a team that had scored in 21 games running and one against the league leaders.

Smith is crap. Even in this crazy age £4M should get you so much more.

They were dogshit against Millwall.

I thought he defended brilliantly and the nudge on the back post on the first half was absolute class. Out numbered, taller players and managed to fuck them over withe a nudge. Did exactly what we needed 👍

By far our best right back, did well tonight, gave away a few silly fouls in dangerous areas late on that could have cost us, but a decent performance.

I don’t mind Smith, think he is a solid enough player. Nothing great but solid When we signed him I watched clips of him at huddlesfield and he was bombing down the right whipping balls in I expect more of the same at Stoke.
