At my kindest, and adding Stafy and Bony as wasted money, I can only get to about half a dozen useful signings there (even then, ones like Lindsay, Smith and Powell are very much in the "jury's out" pile just yet - others I could possibly live with include Grant, BMI, Clucas and even(ish) Allen, whilst Etebo and Badou could have been good in the right circumstances).......and that is out of close to 35 signings. That is a truly shocking strike rate at any level! When combined with the millions we had to spend, it is probably the worst spending record in the entire football world over the same time period.
Summer 17 consigned us to relegation. Summer 18 consigned us to a good few years in the Championship and removed any thought of a swift return. Summer 19 raised the very real risk of relegation to League One. Summer 20 must get us back on an even keel and heading in the right direction again.

Yeah, I'd probably say summer 17 is the single biggest reason we are where we are. Lack of a striker, the bad apple quota becoming uncontrollable - and the farcical lack of preparation for his switch to wing-backs were a dereliction of duty. You've got to laugh at spending 22m on Wimmer and BMI - while leaving yourself with Diouf and Pieters as the first choice wing-backs for your fancy back 3 system. It's almost unbelievable. But we've had so many chances to attempt some sort of course correction with a strong window, and we've just dug the hole deeper and deeper. Summer 19 was just a masterclass in idiocy - and that was a year after Rowett's mad trolley dash, which was maybe the worst ever 50m spent by a club in this league, with the most profound consequences It's almost like we've done it on purpose it's been so bad. The club knew what they were doing. They pulled up the drawbridge that summer in the hope we would somehow cling on. Then they tried to make amends with a mad summer which lacked direction and failed to address the previous issues. Joke club which is where it belongs I’m saddened to say.

Summer 2017 without a doubt How we ‘replaced’ Arnie should be deemed a criminal offence How can we forget: This didn’t age well.

The worst part about both lists added together plus the omissions and forgetting the money is our hit rate. What do we think 1 in 6, 1 in 7, worse?. Absolutely shocking.
