Turning that useless twat Mcclean into a footballer would've been a start. My friend Trevor says McClean is good, he tries. I will give him that, he can run and run but he needs to how to cross. Frustrates me, his deliveries are awful. Same with Ince not sure i have seen him actually cross a ball yet Ince is another useless wanker. It’s hard to pick out the worst signing as they’ve all proven to be a let down. There isn’t a single one that you would be sorry to see go. As far as transfer windows go I wouldn’t be surprised if January ain’t much better.

...where things became unmanageable? While the summer dealings were obviously an utter shambles, it's striking how the January signings have proved to be even more disastrous. We need a change of fortune this time. The January business has been horrific - even the Jan 2018 and Jan 2019 windows, which at the time were viewed as a reasonable rescue act in both cases - and that was coming after Imbula (16) and Berahino (17). Seems to me What we are lacking at present and have since Whelan & Walter's left is a few long serving players acting boss in the dressing room, demanding more from the rest. The rest of the squad are fairly recent signings, the club means nothing to them and without a decent slice of long term players that can lead we are strolling through the seasons

The club is just a half way house, devoid of comitted long term players that will demand more from the rest. We are always very active in the transfer market we should have a revolving door, this club doesn't mean anything to this bunch.
A true loss of identity

Does anyone have a list of the previous 32 signings? Just for comparisons, to make us all feel worse. Here's a half-arsed attempt taken from Wikipedia Summer 2015Shaqiri - 12 Wollscheid - 2.5 Haugaard - Undisclosed Joselu - 5.75 Given - Free Johnson - Free Moha - Free Afellay - Free Jan 2015N/A Summer 2014Bardsley - Free Sidwell - Free Diouf - Free Teixeira - Undisclosed Bojan - Undisclosed Jan 2014Agudelo - Free Odemwingie - Player exchange Summer 2013Pieters - 3 Muniesa - Free Arnautovic - 2 Ireland - Free Jan 2013Shea - 2.5 Butland - 3.5 Summer 2012Adam - 4 Nzonzi - 3 Cameron - 2.5 Edu - Undisclosed Ness - Free Kightly - Undisclosed Owen - Free How can a club go from picking up N'zonzi and Arnautovic for £5 mill to spending 18 million on Wimmer in less than 5 years.

Thing is, put that list in all its stark glory in front of the board and they still wouldn’t think there was a problem. Although technically not signings, if you want to see a worse example of incompetent fuckwits getting paid for not doing their job properly....then check out the board of SCFC.

The fact that Jones was allowed to bring so many further inept footballers to the club when the squad needed desperately culling is the epitome of rank wank decision making at board level. The failure over these last four seasons is down to the ineptitude of the board and the absolutely disastrous day to day running of the club by Tony fucking Scholes. Four managers and going on five with decent reputations prior to rocking up at Stoke have had their careers tarnished by the car crash that is Stoke City. Take a bow Peter, Jon and Tony, fuckwittery of the absolute highest order, well done.

I actually think FFP and our bloated squad/wage budget might help us going forward.
That list of crap players acquired over the last few years is frightening, and one thing screams out at me.
'Cartwright'
As someone else alluded to, there is no joined up thinking at the club from top to bottom, it's like we just watched some highlights of championship games and thought, 'he looks alright, let's get him.
The situation we find ourselves in, will force us to look for free transfers, players from lower divisions, youngsters etc, hungry players on the up. Players that MON can galvanize in to some sort of team.
It sounds crazy, but I would rather we go scouring the leagues for those kind of players, than sign the likes of Sam V(j)okes

It's got to be down to what they've come into. Looking at Rowett's summer signings, while the fees may be inflated, only Martina hasn't looked anything like being a good player. The others all have pedigree at Championship level. Not utilising some to the best of their abilities (Afobe to start with) hasn't helped. There does have to be more to it than all 30 are poor players, it would take some doing to get that amount of bad players in succession by design spending that amount of money, let alone by accident. It has to be something about the club as you say. Not sticking up for the players though, they deserve every bit of stick they get I disagree on the last point. Some players, maybe. Others, definitely. But confidence has got to be a big issue. Losing has become a self-fulfilling prophecy. The team is so scared to lose, they can hardly not lose.

Not to mention Arnie leaving and us totally ballsing up replacing him. It's so fucking scary looking back at just how incompetent we have been from top to bottom in the last few years. Unforgivable!

Missing??? (Apologies if incorrect)
Bony Gudietti Pennant extension. Van Ginkel

Summer 2016 killed us. We didn't replace the Pulis core with any hard arse equivalents and as the core aged and/or picked up injuries we became a soft touch. Initially the squad increased in technical quality but without that never say die body on the line core we couldn't hack the physical side anymore.
The problem now is we can't attract quality players anymore and the ones we have don't want to be here. The lack of quality coming in this summer is just a reflection of where we are and the quality is going to get worse before it gets better. The trick will be getting players who can hack the physical side, will give their all and can play as an effective unit. That's going to take a couple of season at least - some of it probably in League 1.
Anyone putting any faith in this January window is in for a rude awakening. We'll sell more than we can bring in and if we get more than 1 in who actually improves the first 11 it will be a miracle.

Summer 19 by a country mile,it’s overloaded us with a hoard of very average players that is now our starting 11. We aren't a Premiership club anymore - get used to those average players because that's the pool we'll be fishing in for sometime. It's the transfers we made (and didn't make) while we were in the Premiership that made the summer 2019 window what it was. Player for player the squad is going to look a lot worse from now on and if you think 2019 was bad your really not going to like 2020. What will make a difference is whether O'Neil can make the team better than the sum of its parts.

What will make a difference is whether O'Neil can make the team better than the sum of its parts. I am not sure that the previous transfer windows meant we had to buy so many average players. It would have made far more sense if Jones had been allowed to buy 2 or 3 key players and then only allowed to bring in additional players once the number of senior professionals had been reduced below 25 (or fewer). Hopefully that is precisely what Michael O'Neill has been told will be the situation in the next 2 windows. I would take a team of "average" players if they were brought with some thought and planning so as to build a team that is better than the sum of its parts. (Isn't that the definition of a real team?)
