"Debts owed to parent company Stoke City Holdings rose from £122.7m to £141.3m in the year up to 31 May 2019.
And turnover went down from just over £127m to £70.5m as Stoke finished 16th in their first season outside the top flight since 2007-08.
Media revenues reduced by almost 50%, from about £101m to £51.2m, while £67.4m was spent on new players."www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50834640

That gives us £23.6m to play with this season and next For all the owners faults, we spent an eye watering £60m on transfers. And wasted almost every penny of it......

As discussed before presumably this loss can be set against profits of bet 365?

Last year we assembled the most expensive squad in the history of the championship spending £196m, dwarfing Newcastle's £147m when they went straight back up. Meanwhile Tony Scholes gave himself a pay rise.
Something has to be done to get this charlatan out of the club. Unita 1863 lads, is it possible to create or even crowdfund a SCHOLES OUT banner? We need a regular vociferous protest against this clown for the club to hear us.

I am pretty sure he didnt give himself a payrise, the Coates would have signed it off why do people need to make stuff up plenty to criticise him for without inventing it.

As CEO , you get a real say in how the club is run , it's not like being a normal employee If he said he wanted it written into his contract , that he wanted a 50 per cent pay cut , if the club have a below target season , and a fifty per cent pay increase if they have an above target season . Then the coates family wouldn't have stood in his way . He could ask for performance related pay and I am sure he would get it in some form or another . But he is incompetent not stupid , and he is going to vote , for being rewarded for failure , all day long

I don't know about the CEO getting a pay rise, but the accountant certainly deserves one for producing that set of accounts!

I don't know about the CEO getting a pay rise, but the accountant certainly deserves one for producing that set of accounts! What makes you think that? Hands up anyone who was expecting us to report a loss of just £15.4m for the 2018/19 season? That will be no one then.

It looks like they wrote off all the deadwood in the 31/5/18 accounts hence the £31.9m loss due to £20m plus write offs on the likes of wimmer, imbula. Smart move to bring out all the dead in those accounts so Championship FFP didnt really screw us up.

This was our first of 3 seasons of dwindling parachute payments which go roughly £45 million, 25 million , 20 million, zero.
So without them our loss would have been £60 million.
Since they will be only £20 million next season then zero it's not hard to see why we need to start cutting our cloth differently and shift the higher earners and non-playing 'players' which are very often one and the same.

As most everyone knows, if a company is going to report losses, write off all of the shit and make it a really bad year. It is far better to do that rather than carry crap forwards, and then have another bad year.

Overvaluing assets will always lead to problems. Our high cost assets that had no value were written off. Simple.
