It isn't odd to use lack of fitness for not playing one player, then play another and admit he was injured. It's diabolical management. It's time for some honesty instead of pissing down the backs of supporters whilst telling us it's raining. No matter what O'Neil says you won't believe him. Well he's had about 4 goes at telling the truth and I get the feeling he's nowhere near, so it's hard to believe. Playing an injured player yesterday whilst using fitness as an excuse to completely eradicate another from the squad is a tell tale sign that there are porkies in the air. This must be hell for you. A manager not being straight, hoofball to a lone striker and no shots on target, only this time you are publicly defending him. I'm assuming you are a baseball cap away from a meltdown?

Badou is better than Cousins. By a mile. I am not sure you are right based on Cousins last two performances - will he keep it up? I think Badou takes too many chances by flying into tackles for a defensive midfielder in front of the back four. Having said that as Cousins at the moment appears to contribute to a steadier base Badou with his pace and mobility would I believe show us his extra class moving forward. Joe allen certainly seems to be benefiting. It is another topic as to whether Badou or Allen or both should be in the side as part of a three man midfield or Etobo as one. At the moment though possibly Cousins gives us that better base to perm 2 from those 3. Clucas for me although showing up well at times is not consistent enough and would be behind the other three. Are we really proclaiming Cousins as the answer on the strength of two decent games against two of the absolute dirt worst teams in the division?

Not really, I'm prepared to give him a chance, especially due the circumstances he inherited. I reckon he risked Clucas because he has a goal in him. Probably wrong though.

I’d settle for all our players doing just ok at the minute

Both would be in my team, but it seems like the manager prefers the present brainless set-up. Can only presume they're off in January.

It just proves that with us not playing etebo or badou. The board have lost all interest just trying get some money back while we pay good money to watch the shit we will be left with.

Thinking, that if Etebo and Badou aren't playing so as to not risk a sale, Butland ain't going anywhere soon then. If so, what the hell is going on with thingy who's never played for us?

If there was ANY chance of them staying, then the last couple of weeks will have made up their minds for them.
If they cant get in a shit championship team threatened by relegation they will be offski.
By not playing them we are also lowering their value and for sure we will be forced to accept the first wanky bid that comes in from Turkey for Badou.
Etebo should be worth 10 million but we all know we wont get that kind of money with Scholes managing things.
I can see a few angry fans in January

Cousins has done well as a defensive midfielder but gives us absolutely nothing going forward. I would pick him before Woods because he has made us more solid but we then need more creativity in midfield and Clucas and Allen are similar in that their games are about trying to break forward not unpicking defences. Etebo and Badou run with the ball but I am not convinced they are that creative so for me Powell must start even if it means we shift to 4-2-3-1 and Diouf either wide right or centrally, at least until we get Verlinden back, so Powell has some pace to pass to.

I do agree that 4231 would allow us to see what Powell can do and absolutely we do need more creativity in midfield which none of our other midfielders gives us and Powell just might with a decent run

I hope the reasons behind them being left out are genuine.
I really don’t see the point in not playing them both, they are two of our very best players.
Not playing them because they will be gone seems a bit stupid, surely a few games over Christmas with good performances adds a bit to their value, plus adds two great players to our team.
Cousins did alright, but we are very lucky Badou and Etebo are even here, even if it’s until January only.

Im fully prepared for Teflon to sell them both for a bag of magic beans. Yep, and I think we’ll be lucky to get that if it is Turkish & “smaller” Spanish clubs because I doubt they’ll be anywhere near the money we paid for both.

any dealings with turkish clubs would mean a loan deal them fuckers dont buy players. we should be keeping our better players and building a team around them.ithink the coates family are giving up and trying to recoup some money.

As ever we really haven’t a clue what’s been going on in the background. I find the assumption that this is either O’Neill not rating them or the club wanting to cash in a little dubious to say the least. After the event there is a slight chance the truth will out but even then it’s far from certain. That’s football these days.

What figure do you think we're realistically (and that's the key point with all the absolute crap about us looking for £20m for Butland in the summer) looking for for these two?
Do you think we'd accept £7-8m for Etebo - and slightly less for Badou?
And I'd be surprised if there was a queue, even at that price.
The only real hope would be if there was some English interest, and there don't seem to be any whispers.

Bruce for Etebo if we're lucky? Selling Allen and keeping one of these two seems the much better option all round.

As usual we are just left to speculate about what is going on behind the scenes as a result of misdirection that goes as far as being untruthful.. or so it seems. Having read above and having read MoN's statement about too many midfielders ( something many on here have mentioned over and over I might add ) one can only assume they're off in January.. but.. if it's just loans to Turkish clubs or unrealistic interest from tiny clubs then it's symptomatic of more confused decision making at the club. These 2 have been good players this season. If ffp requires urgent sales we should be hawking Butland and Allen around I reckon.. you never know we might even be able to sell some of our useless forwards while we're at it, too.

I wouldn't allow any of the two to go out on loan. If clubs want to buy them for a decent fee, OK, but no loans for peanuts! Badou is at least worth £7-8M and Etebo must certainly be worth around £10M. If there are no buyers, play them and sell Allen and Clucas instead!

Badou at £7m is only half what we paid. And didn't we pay £6m for Etebo, the same as we paid for Woods? We'll lose heavily on N'Diaye but I'd hope to make a small profit on Etebo. If selling both gets us a guaranteed starter in midfield with some oomph, then c'est las vie, but a trio of Allen, Cousins and Clucas taking us forward will come to very little.
