Can we get promoted? Definitely. It's not impossible.
These before New Year:
Wigan H win Cardiff A draw Blackburn H win Hull A draw Luton H win Reading H win Mboro A win Sheff Wed H win Fulham A draw
On paper, all of these 5 home games are definitely winnable. Most of the away games too. Mboro aren't a top team. Fulham weren't anything special. What worries me the most here are Cardiff and above all Hull City away.

No we can't, we're still more likely to get relegated than we are to stay up, lets get that challenge out the way 1st.

I was looking at the odds for Stoke to get promoted before the game at the weekend and it was around 83/1, Sunday it was 53/1 and now it's 40/1. Top 6 odds tumbled from 43/1 to 16/1.
People must be backing it.

This is the kind of thread that can make us look a bit stupid and arrogant as fans. We're still in an awful position and whilst Saturday was a breath of fresh air it was against the only other club with a record as bad as ours and we still managed to concede 2 goals and were helped out by 2 wonder strikes by Clucas.
We need a bit of perspective. We still have big problems with the defence which aren't easily fixed and we're still likely to concede too many goals for a while yet. Survival is definitely what we should be looking at now, promotion is ridiculous. We'd need to win 5 or 6 in a row before we can even begin to consider a late season playoff charge.

No, the defence would have to be much better. Right now we don't have the right personnel available. We should not get ahead of ourselves, survival is top priority at the moment.

Promoted 😂😂😂😂 Some people on here make me laugh. Just like on the Knot FM sports show last night people predicting 4’s and 5’s against Wigan and apparently we just have to turn up to win🙄Wigan’s last 2 away performances, lost 1-0 at Derby to a 93rd minute goal after playing them off the park and a late Bristol City equaliser in a 2-2 draw.

Happy to just survive TBH.. BTW not wishing to dismiss any optimism.. I am sure someone like tachyon will tell us the exact odds if we asked him/her nicely We've got Barnsley around 80% for the drop (remember, that's who we beat on Saturday). Then Luton at around 45%. Then a gaggle of clubs at around 30+% starting with us. To put it in context, we're a legitmate mid table team who are currently 11 points from mid table and three points below 21st. Results went our way on Saturday, but we're still around 36% for the drop. So more likley we stay up than go down.

We need to win 20, draw 6 and lose 4 of our remaining games to stand a good chance of making the playoffs. Despite the upsurge in confidence post Barnsley, I can see us losing more than we win between now and May. It would be some miracle if we were promoted.

If MON as decent as seems we have got a good manager at last. We have the squad to be near the top but over 10 points to ask is a bit to much to pull back.
We have to rid of all deadwood for next season because of financial limitations.

One home defeat and O'Neill will be seen as being as wank as Jones.

Silly thread Musik, come on mate.
We beat the other poorest team in the division. We hardly have any bragging rights.

Great to see some positivity for a change! If we can put a run together in this rally average league even now we could push for a play off place. Am I deluded - no just the eternal optimist. Gouranga.

Holy fecking Moes. One win against the only other side as wank as us and we've got dreamers dreaming of playoffs! It'll take a dozen wins or so and a sizeable amount of draws just to get us to comfortable safety. After the car crash of a seasons start, that itself will be extraordinary progress.

Cant see it happening unfortunately. I'd be happy with staying up this season, then maybe pushing for the playoffs next season if all goes to plan. In saying that Aston Villa werent too many less points behind the playoffs than we are now, but it takes an almighty good run of form to get anywhere near the pack chasing for the playoffs from where we are now. There's no harm in being hopeful though.

On oddschecker this morning....
Corals have us at 100-1 for promotion Bet365 have us at 4-1 for relegation.
100-1---- ive seen stranger things and this league is full of surprises at the moment.

Steady hands at the tiller is what we need and hopefully O' Neil is that man.
We are at war to stay up and that is the message he needs to get into the players minds.
Anything else is a bonus. Stay Up is our FA Cup win this season.

Thanks! 👍
I might just stick with my initial pre-season prediction of a finish then: 12th.
Pretty decent considering the start of the season.

One thing we have to remember, even though it was a great performance and a good day out on Saturday. It was BARNSLEY, I’m all for optimism but we looked poor at the back in the second half. Hopefully Ryan is back soon

However if by some miracle we got the points and others dropped points to get us in play off contention we would be the form team coming into them. Often enough they have a good chance

Often enough they have a good chance I still believe we have a bunch of winnable matches coming up before New Year 2020: Wigan, Luton, Blackburn, Reading .. and more.

I will eat every hat in the world if we do. I'll open a milliner's shop if we do. Can we get promoted? Yes. But then so can Barnsley. If they win 27 of their remaining games, that should do it. If they win a mere 22 they should get a play-off place. Will we get promoted? No. Musik, what have you been lacing that ice-cream with?
