Does anybody else think it is utterly bizarre that the club have made no public statement given our situation and our last 2 home defeats?
Don't we have a right to know what our clubs current strategy is in what is undoubtedly a crisis situation.
In my travels, I'm getting asked all the time by fans of other clubs, what is happening at Stoke?.....and I haven't got a clue. I'm a supporter, a client, a customer of an organisation that doesn't think it's of any importance to communicate with its fanbase. Absolutely no regard for supporters.
Or have I missed something?

This is my main problem.
If they're backing Jones for some strange reason, I wouldn't agree with it but just come out and say 'we're fully behind him'.
The silence makes us look like the piss pot we are at the minute.

Clubs normally have a caretaker manager in place until an appointment is made? Why are we guessing anyway? |

They've already stated what you want twice in the last 2 weeks, using different channels. Saying the same thing again isn't going to gain anything or make any difference, neither for your needs, nor for Jones, because they are apparently in contact with him every day. Not saying more is their way of dedramatising the situation - we might not agree, but it their way of doing their jobs, and they have plenty more to consider in their other busy lives.

It is much better they don't say anything at all. Normally when they speak they make everything ten times worse. As the saying goes, better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.

I think that there is that, but I also think in an organisation where there is such a loyal fanbase and a crisis situation, there is such a thing as acknowledging the concerns of the fans and giving some assurance that things are being done behind the scenes to address this. It doesn't have to be specifics if that is not appropriate. But what we get here is one big ambiguous silence which is inevitably going to create only speculation and create a very real image that the club doesn't give a shit about its fanbase. |

It looks to me as though NJ has still some support on the Board, and there is no agreement on the best candidate to replace him if they decide he has to go.
Results are so bad that they're dealing with this on a match by match basis, so it's virtually impossible for them to issue a statement that helps clarify the postion.
Jones himself has said he has the support of the owners but he knows unless results turn that will change, that seems a fair enough comment by him.

One suspects that whichever legal firm has got Stoke City on its books must be looking at this latest managerial sacking and casting real doubt over how the club is run. Maybe they should take some advice from whoever owns Watford. They seem really good at wheeling them in wheeling them out. |

I doubt very much they have their heads in the sand just hoping this goes away - they will be working their conkers off trying to sort a replacement. However, the chances are that of the people actually willing to take the job (not our wish list, but those who have actually said 'yes I'll do it') it is a bit like choosing the 'most handsome leper' - i.e. the least shit man for the job. |

And they've done a bloody good job to be fair!
Not many others could have taken us from 9th in the Prem to bottom of the Championship in just over 3 seasons. It's far more efficient to do it that way than spending time battling to go back up and wasting their efforts on all that Premiership rubbish and keeping suporters happy nonsense.
They clearly know what they're doing and what is best for them
P.S. to be fair kpsja is absolutely right of course......sacking a manger after a run of 3 wins out of 30 and no league win in 180 odd days is DEFINITELY just a knee-jerk reaction isn't it? I mean most clubs would at least wait until they're officially relegated and it's too late to take action, so we should just wait a few months more i reckon. What harm can it do?

Give em chance, they haven't completed the root and branch review from when Hughes left yet. Then they've got the Lambert debrief, the post Rowett business inventory still to look at. They'll be hoping to roll the Jones debacle and relegation (2) audit into one when the time comes.
