Back in the good old days, a situation like this would have seen people on the pitch, fans protesting outside the front entrance of the stadium and 'Mills Out' graffiti all over the place.
What the fuck's happened? Tuesday was absolute wank- the worst performance I've seen in a long time, yet barely a whimper from the stands. Have we gone soft or what? The way the club are operating, i'm surprised we haven't seen seats flying onto the pitch. It's like everyone's just given up.

I think we are saturated with the discontent on here, social media, wall-to-wall media broadcasts dissecting it all constantly that we’re all sick to death of it, had the arguments in advance and beaten into submission prior to the match.
Back in the day the only place to get irate and vent your spleen was at the match. We’ve got too many opportunities to lose our shit now to really care come matchday.

Honestly?
I love Stoke City more than anything apart from family and close friends, but as I’ve got older I’ve realised that it’s just a game of football.
For 90 minutes it’s an emotional rollercoaster, for a couple of hours afterwards I’m on a high/pissed off and then I go back to my family and realise life’s too short to let it take over my life.....

Don’t mistake it for Tom Ince.

I got angry in the last year of Hughes’ reign , I was not angry with Lambert because he was dealt a shit hand, he was the only bloke we could get at the time and it would have been a miracle if it had worked. I got pissed off with Rowett but put it down to us not having realised how tough the Championship was. By the time Jones showed up I was waiting for this new team to energise me, but it hasn’t happened. I have become detached.. I don’t Really know who half the players are - I can put names to faces but they don’t feel like ‘my’ team right now, probably because there are lots of new players all at once and many of them were relatively unknown to me , I don’t feel a sense of belonging or a connection with them yet. So, right now, I haven’t got enough emotional connection with the team to feel angry. I just feel deflated.

I think Jones was cut a lot of slack because people knew how important it was for it to work. Constantly changing managers will not work with the way our manager's get backed and are allowed to sign any player they seemingly want.
Re the board I think that has to be acknowledged that a lot of us were taken in by Jones and what he was selling at the beginning so it would be unfair to criticise too heavily. We also have to acknowledge that our owners love the club and aren't pulling large sums of money out of the club and at least for 2005-2009 we were a very well run club. When the fall started can be argued but it's largely a string of bad decisions made with good intent.
I think the failings of this week fall on Jones (loss to Huddersfield) and the horrendous organisation of today and yesterday from Scholes and the board will change the mood in the stadia.

Yep really good thread. It's really fucking sad times. It's like us fans have all lost interest (me included). It's like the difference between anger and depression. The situation is just so depressing. Horrible horrible times. Rushed back from all day meetings in London on Tuesday for that pile of shit. Also why the fuck were people applauding Tom Ince? It's like someone calling the person you love a cunt and then you stand there applauding them.

Mr Dog,
It's the slow and insidious grinding down of behaviour. You can't do this, say this, sing this, behave like this or even think like this. I mean we've had people on here whinging about people standing when it gets exciting , blocking exits on the way out in the last 5 minutes of the game, daring to smoke at the back of block whatever and questioning the fucking lyrics of Delilah.
We deserve what we allow

All of the above reasons are true, but the main one is the internet. The rage and reaction has been transferred online now. Nobody would be able to keep their phones in their pockets long enough to gather and protest on the pitch.

Jones acts like a fan and most of us appreciate he is giving it everything he can. It's not working for him results wise, but we do look a really good team at times. It would be nice if we could take the lead and then kick on but we keep letting teams back in. We dominate teams without confidence, if we gain confidence this team will start slaughtering the opposition.

Back in the day we had a common enemy, an owner and his gobby stooge who we wanted removing from the club before they destroyed it. But now, for all their increasingly obvious faults, the last thing we want is for the current owners to be removed because we fear it could destroy our club.
Kind of leaves us a bit toothless really. Even if we want to lash out, who do we lash out at?
That plus what guernseydave said.

I must admit I was very surprised how little reaction there was. A part of me was quite proud at how resilient we all were in sitting through such shite again. On the way back I had the radio on and listening to Spurs fan after Spurs fan moan about Pochettino made me realise how Spurs fans were all such wankers and that, despite our current predicament, I could take solace in the fact that I was not a Spurs fan.
I am not so sure we are all soft. This time last year it was our pressure which forced Rowett out. I think it was the Bristol City home game when we started singing 'Rory' during the game and then there were thousands of us chanting 'Gary Rowett your football is shit.'
I think the difference this time around is 1) Jones is more likeable on a personal level 2) We have belatedly accepted the problems are not limited to the manager 3) We have become desensitized as a result of three years of absolute garbage. I was actually laughing when Huddersfield scored. It is hard to know what else to do.
I felt that defeat against Huddersfield would inevitably lead to Jones' being replaced so shouting or booing was superfluous.
I think right now they are just lining up the replacement and he will be moved during the international break. If he is still in charge for the next home game though we need to make absolutely clear where we stand. If Jones is in charge for the next home game and if we fail to win that game then we need a massive fuck off from the stands.

When I have a mini breakdown at the games these days, (which is often) I'm frowned upon. Some woman said to me the other week, they didn't want 'my sort' there. My fucking sort!
Funnily enough I never saw her on the grass bastard bank at Wigan or when the lights went out at Swindon.
My fucking sort.
Fuck 'em!

At the end of Tuesday’s game, Jones did his usual facing the Boothen End and clapping. He was met with a mixture of booing and abuse.
It will get worse.

There are no real villains in this scenario , just a load of people trying hard but proving to be a bit incompetent - hard to get really outraged by this.

These days I sit in the Q-Railing upper (or whatever it is now) and got told off for kicking the shit out of the (empty) seat in-front of me last week. The worst thing about it was that it was my 11-year-old daughter telling me off.

I don't think anyone's angry at Jones because he's a nice bloke, just incompetent. it's also difficult to be angry at a man who's pumped God knows how many million into the club over the last decade or so. But this situation can't be allowed to continue. Regardless of how much they've spent, not sacking him after Tuesday is the board blatantly sticking two fingers up to the fans.

I was quite surprised how angry people occasionally got at Rowett last year after so limply accepting some absolute crap prior to relegation, but it has gone back to resigned acceptance again. It seems managers can get away with fucking anything these days.
