I can see a new manager tightening the defence by scrapping the wing-back nonsense and possibly playing two DMs, especially away from home.
But - genuine question - how do we get the goals we need from this squad?

Playing someone who can cross on the wings and/or at full back and two up front might help.

Playing someone who can cross on the wings and/or at full back and two up front might help. I'd stick with CCV on the right but on the left if he sticks with what he has all season he deserves everything he gets, it went beyond a joke about 5 games ago.

Stick people on the pitch that can cross a ball without hitting the first man or long to no one from the left,
Put someone on the right who plays for the team and not for himself on the rare occasion he doesn’t hide throughout the match.

Play 2 up front, I would play 2 from Hogan / Gregory / Campbell. Midfield should be Allen, Ndiaye, Etebo and Woods. I've seen nothing from Powell, Ince or Vokes to suggest we should keep picking them. Unless we can get a loan striker in, it still doesn't really answer your question 😀

Pick a system that's suits the players we've got. It's not rocket science. No he keeps trying this diamond nonsense . Mights well bang his head against the wall.

And what two strikers have we got that look like they might be regular goalscorers? The best we’ve got right now are Ince and McClean. I’d be tempted to play vokes and Gregory up top, Ince and McClean out wide in a 442 and just keep lobbing the ball in from wide areas. Ince.....etebo......badou....McClean ....... Gregory...... vokes............. Far from ideal but the best we’ve got.

Who in midfield will create the chances, get down the flanks and put good crosses in, and who up front ever looks like scoring? It'll be a long three months before the window opens.

Stop looking at ‘stats’ and start believing his own eyes and realise that we hardly ever look like a credible attacking force using his current tactics.

We should play Campbell on the left wing or try getting him playing a similar role to Sterling.

Drop Ince, Clucas and McLean... straight away even if you put three centre halves or two reserve goalkeepers and AN Other in their places creativity is increased.
Those three amongst them as a collective have the ultimate combination of zero skill, zero motivation and zero bollocks.
Maybe that's the answer... a mix up of all three into one player and you might have half a footballer.
We could try it in other areas of the pitch as well.

Vokes and Gregory might work up front, or Vokes and Campbell. What we are doing isn't working, is it?

I still don't think we will struggle to stay up. This squad is a top half squad imo, for whatever reason these players atm are making individual errors and it's costing us and jones big time.
I think personally players are strugaling with the expectation following our nose dive from grace, these players are aware of it as much as anybody

We created chances for about 2 games, didn't we? After that, Nathan turned into Rowett. He's assembled a squad fit for nowt and he's still in a job. Pitiful.

Badou and Etebo protecting the back four?

We could go back to making the pitch narrower. Restrict the width of the play to negate the effectiveness of wingers and make sure most of the action goes through the middle. Oh and spray the grass persistently with water to make a total quagmire and slow down the pace of the game.

Could play six at the back won't make any difference as our defenders, all of them, can't defend the penalty area TP won't change that.

Well I reckon pulis is coming in, and it won't be about goals.
We'll defend and look to nick set piece goals, which to be fair, in this piss poor league, should work.
Pulis' stoke team...
Butland
CCV Batth Lindsay Bruno
Badou Allen
Etebo. Mcclean
Powell/Vokes
Gregory

Every other cross into our box is a goal. Then of course the goalkeeper has given away seven goals already😖 We could perhaps score more but not under Pulis.

I really don't want to go too far down the road of extolling TP's virtues, but he'd drill them to death as far as positioning is concerned, and they wouldn't dare just stand and watch an opposition player take a free header. We'd just be much more organised at the back, not to mention the fact that we'd all be referring to the 'back 8' within a fortnight. We can't just settle for draws now though, so leaving aside all the stuff I hate about Pulisball, I just don't think he's what we need.
