Play 2 up front, I would play 2 from Hogan / Gregory / Campbell. Midfield should be Allen, Ndiaye, Etebo and Woods. I've seen nothing from Powell, Ince or Vokes to suggest we should keep picking them. Unless we can get a loan striker in, it still doesn't really answer your question 😀 Who’s creating the chances for your two strikers? Don't tell me McLean or Ince are creating chances, and as for Clucas, that guy is a passenger.

Who’s creating the chances for your two strikers? Is it worth trying Ince on the left wing with Duffy on the right. Badou and Etebo protecting the back four? Possibly, but we're still shifting players out of their best positions unnecessarily for me, all based on the fallacy that two strikers = more attacking.

Federici
Edwards Batth Collins Indi
Badou Etebo
Ince Powell Clucas (Verlinden from Jan)
Vokes
Is imo a good side.
The only unbalanced bit being the left back and ideally we need a better keeper but we haven’t got one.

I think we have the players for five at the back - it will free up the wingbacks to get forward more and accommodate 2 upfront:
Federici Edwards Batth CCV BMI McClean Etebo NDiaye Clucas Gregory Vokes
Five at the back isn't necessarily defensive - it depends how far the wingbacks push up. Also wingbacks are harder to defend against than traditional wingers - the opposition midfield/fullbacks can stick tight to wingers as they sit further up the pitch while wingbacks have the element of surprise when making runs from deep.
The other important thing is to get more of an understanding between the midfield and the strikers. For years now the strikers have looked isolated - there doesn't appear to much interplay between with the midfield. That in turn stems from the defence getting it's act together - the midfield have been playing too deep to cover a dodgy defence and goal keeper.
So basically sort out the goalkeeper and the defence first and the goals will come.

First, tighten up the back lines. People might be more willing to have a shot if they're not as worried about a long range clearance causing us problems. Second, teach players not to fall over - the number of times the key player just fell over for no reason as soon as the ball came near him last game was just ridiculous. Third, remind players that the large white square frame at the end of the pitch is the goal, and the aim is to get balls INTO it - as difficult as it is, getting a ball over the top of the bar from 2 yards out doesn't really help anyone.

Yep. Any idea who these wingers are that can get down the pitch and put good crosses in? And what two strikers have we got that look like they might be regular goalscorers? The best we’ve got right now are Ince and McClean. I’d be tempted to play vokes and Gregory up top, Ince and McClean out wide in a 442 and just keep lobbing the ball in from wide areas. Ince.....etebo......badou....McClean ....... Gregory...... vokes............. Far from ideal but the best we’ve got. I think you're probably right. That's about the best we've got. And that's a real worry. Those six players have about five goals between them so far this season. Regardless of who the manager is, that's what we're stuck with for the next three months.

We should play Campbell on the left wing or try getting him playing a similar role to Sterling. I am informed he can only play 45 minutes before getting tired and needing a lie down though. Fucking Stoke.
