Given the record of the present incumbent it got me thinking have we ever had one with a worse record in any division ?

I would suggest he’s worse than Ball, Kamara, Bates and Little for me.

Brian Little is our 4th best manager for win % managing more than 50 games and only behind Lou and Gudjon in the last 100 years.
That's proof that Stats can be deceptive, but NJ's don't make for pleasant reading or contrast with what we're seeing.

Holocaust season I guess? Asprey was in charge for most of that and we only won 3 in 42

I’m sure there’s more diligent posters than me that could sift through the stats to prove or disprove that. It’s just my opinion- I’m so disappointed with this guy. It’s been an absolute disaster. That being said I hope he wins tonight because I want Stoke to win. I don’t think he has any long term future here, sadly. I fear for our club mate.

Kammy was the worst in my opinion, Jones is having good go at it mind
I actually think Jones is much better than Kamara or Bates due his record at Luton but here at Stoke it just ain’t happening

If you read Kamara's testimony of his time at Stoke I think it's fair to say no manager could have possibly succeeded. I think conditions are so so important and we probably don't factor them in until many years later.

Mentally I've always thought the Bates reign was about as bad as it could get over a prolonged stretch. But maybe that is unfair on him. Quite hard to get your head around NJ doing worse given the resources afforded to him. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1997–98_Stoke_City_F.C._season#ResultsThat run that finished him off was bloody awful though.

That's what wiki says, was just before my time though. He seems to completely evade any criticism for that episode?

I bet we would have been easily top half after that game. Looks like our record was 7 wins, 4 draws, 5 losses. So everything looking reasonable enough. 2 months later, it was carnage.

I was going by the Wiki page on Stoke's 97/98 season. I think your 33 games includes 6 cup matches, which probably means he was in charge for the Bradford league match (the one after Birmingham), so he was actually in charge for 27 league games with 32 points from 8 wins.

Sad to say Jones is right down there but for my money it was worse under both of them.

I think you're all forgetting AJ Barker in 1908! A J Barker Aug 1, 1908 May 31, 1914 0(w) 2(d) 5(l) 7(total) 0% (win ratio) www.managerstats.co.uk/clubs/stoke-city/Kamara is the worst of recent, not including Jones, followed by Bill Asprey!

Aye but the question was specifically about record in any division, and 84-85 was objectively worse. We lost ten games in a row.... twice!

Got to agree with you but unfortunately this board won't do anything unless we loose and the fans are extremely vocal about him going
