I wanted to cheer myself up and thought what better way than this. Note how we let Owd Banana boots score on his final game (@-@)

That 6 v 1 was one of my best ever time's as a Stokie. Fucking all down hill since then GD Not quite all downhill... The 2-0 against Man City was the zenith for me, it started going downhill within weeks of that with the Liverpool cup semi. Am still at a loss as to what went so wrong so quickly.

We were a very good team for a pretty decent length of time. Horrific as everything is at the moment, I'm grateful to have seen Stoke like that in my lifetime, I never thought I would as a kid.

We had it all in our own hands. We threw it all away.
Our owners have a lot to answer for.

We had it all in our own hands. We threw it all away. Our owners have a lot to answer for. Thats very true we should have pushed on in the summer after the Liverpool game but did nothing of note. Coates must of thought everything in the garden was rosy its called lack of ambition you never stand still you always try to improve.

Mind you we are better off without those fickle fuckers that soon ditched the club when the going got tough. Far as I'm concerned they can fuck off and follow someone else.

Weirdly, I wouldn't put it in our top three best performances, but that Liverpool game was definitely the peak of our time in the PL. There were a few little high points on the way, but the overall trend from that moment onwards was down, down and down.

Walters first goal in the cup semi final is a thing of beauty. That brought a smile to my face.

Cheered me up, 7-2 against Leeds then followed up by a 5-2 against Sheff utd on that glorious run in 80s was also great!

It's why I referred to it as a golden age while we were up there. Knowing it was great and enjoying it as such knowing it could end. Those who moaned all their way through must feel daft now. Particularly after the thrilling 4-3 win at Goodison Park when, despite beating the shit a few days before and taking a big scalp some were whinging about having conceded 3.

Under both Pulis and Hughes, when we set up to be an attacking team, and players wanted the ball - we were such a great team to watch. Unfortunately, the former was too shit scared to let this happen too often; and the latter found a great formula then fucked it all up

Watching them liverpool highlights... I'd give my left bollock to have Nzonzi or Arnautovic in our current squad Edit: Etherington and Huth too. Etherington was so good before that injury

Striving for better is always a good thing and in the end not doing that bad cost us massively.

Striving for better is always a good thing and in the end not doing that bad cost us massively. But if the first reference point after winning a classic epic like that is to pick fault it shows no appreciation for current status. And conceding goals isn't good obviously but Everton't goals contributed to a fantastic game of football. Football is a game of possibilities, often it's the perfect imperfection. Micro managing every second of every move and each passing glance is joyless. And not striving to improve isn't what led to this.

That’s when Hughes lost it. And of course it is.
