Just got back from the game. That was one of the worst football matches I've ever seen live. Two incredibly poor teams who deserve to be where they are in the table. We just lost against a team who were more than happy to come away with a point, from one counter. NDiaye sticks the leg out and misses, they go through to the final third and score. Easy peasy. Just looking at how bad we played there, I really do get the genuine feeling that Coates will have looked at that and be thinking to himself that it has to be Pulis to save it. He will definitely be thinking that now, if he wasn't already. Right now guys, that showed me today that there is only one way Stoke City is heading and that is the league below. Today showed me we just aren't good enough. We look so bad that it is genuinely frightening. Felt exactly the same mate. It's frightening how far we've fallen in 5 years. I sat there in the South Stand tonight, not really understanding what was going on? 10 games in and Federici in goal. Carter-Vickers at right-back (think he did okay to be fair but he still doesn't look like a footballer to me?) Ince still just constantly disappearing. Gregory, a low scoring work horse our loan striker at home to Huddersfield. McClean still can't cross a ball. Batth punting it long to no one. No shots on target in 90 minutes? Slow, slow tempo.

Far from sorted. Only one manager fully committed but most the board not in favour. One other considering (and probably considering longer after tonight) and before the game no other firm interest. Not even Pardew had been approached as of before the game. I've just asked if he's been sacked. No answer yet. So literally all that Pardew stuff this afternoon was total, unfounded bollocks? And no decent applicants - we really are in the shit now aren't we. Jones would still be manager if we'd won this evening. There is a block in the club that, until this evening at least, supporting him and backing him to turn it around. Utterly bizarre, but ego is a dirty word. Having said that, it was a very respectful interview from a truly broken Nathan Jones this evening.

They do champagne at the MoatHouse? Not sure, Tony's going straight up to deliver it himself. Please back it up.

You’re on a wind up but nothing would surprise me anymore and I don’t think I could cope with us appointing Pardew. My brain can’t comprehend why we would think this is a good idea 😂

Lovely stuff. Most likely candidate? I've got to stick with Moyes after what I've been told but not heard anything since this afternoon. Somebody is winding you up Pal. They are then having a huge laugh when they see that you are posting their duff info on this MB.

Of course there isn’t another manager who would save us. Dearie me!! He won’t save us because he won’t be coming back. To all of the Pulis lovers...*clears throat*... Unfortunately Mr Pulis will not be returning to this football club. I have it on good authority that this is indeed fact. I have been told this by a very reliable source which has worked not only directly for the Coates but within their actual household and whom still has direct contact with senior employees at Stoke City Football Club. I am naturally sceptic so I have also had this confirmed by certain members of this board who also seem to have similar affiliations. Now please, all gather your wanking socks, shoot your Tony Pulis loaf and please....please shove them as far as you can to the bottom of that laundry basket, never to be seen or mentioned of again. The season is changing by the game though isn’t it? We are now in a full blown crisis and there’s got to be a good chance that Hughton or Moyes would consider us too much of a career risk. If we can’t get Hughton or Moyes, Pulis has to be looking very appealing. He knows the club, he knows the league and he will get us organised very quickly. He doesn’t need to be the perfect long term appointment, he just need to turn us into a competent Championship team and us/him can happily part ways once that’s done.

Tony Scholes won’t want one obvious candidate. Quite frankly Peter Coates needs to put his fucking foot down here. He’s the Chairman. He’s in charge. It’s his club.

Whoever appointed Jones should never have a say over a future manager again. It was so utterly obvious that he would be out of his depth after Rowett had been out of his depth.

If Moyes and Hughton say no, I do think they've got to go cap in hand (so to speak) to Pulis. It's come to this.
We have reached that point.
Pulis over Pards any day of the week - and twice on Sundays!

Trying to think of what level of manager would take us on now? It's been suggested on this thread ( from 3 different sources) that there's been no genuine interest from any of the established, experienced bunch rumoured over the last week or so. Clearly, the board can't go down the up and coming, lower league type straight after NJ - so where does that leave us other than balls deep in the brown stuff? This could get very, very bad.

Pulis over Pards any day of the week - and twice on Sundays! Yup, but I have seen decent posters (not fishlovesoatakes) categorically say that Pulis won’t be offered the job. Whether that’s true or not who knows but I refuse to believe Peter Coates wouldn’t at least approach him. Like you say, we have reached this point. I am in no way whatsoever a TP lover but I don’t see many other options. No way Moyes or Hughton will want this now, if they didn’t already. I could see it being Pearson or O’Neill but they’d be equally boring and more risky if anything.

And saving us will not only cement his place forever as our greatest ever manager he will be remembered as one of the best British managers of all time at saving troubled clubs.
