She starting to creep me out. She reminds me of one of those B movies where a family adopt a sweet little girl and she ends up killing the old lady next door. Bill Pullman would probably play the dad.

Correct And she'd get a lot more praise on here if she did. What does that tell us? That she’s being a normal teenager and not setting herself up for a mental breakdown at 18. Your ‘Normal’ barometer needs looking at...

That she’s being a normal teenager and not setting herself up for a mental breakdown at 18. Your ‘Normal’ barometer needs looking at... Not really. Normal at that age is having a laugh with your mates and being in school. Not going in front of world leaders about an issue that’s completely out of your hands. She needs to let loose and have some fun, at the moment she looks like a thumb that someone’s drawn an angry face on.

Feel sorry for whoever marries her. Not that she’s probably got a gender or answers to her.

In which case that's just even more evidence for why matters like this need more coverage and people need more awareness. The message has been about for nearly 40 years at least and still most people are sitting on their hands completely fucking ignoring it, burying their heads in the sands and sticking their fingers in their ears.
It certainly doesn't discredit her! All it does is prove how fucking lazy and apathetic our generation have been for 40 years!

That’s a fair point, for the sake of the conversation I’ll call it her generation and the one before. Would it be fair to say that , those generations consume more than any other in history, these are the generations that bemoan the use of private jets for world leaders to get to there climate conferences in switzerland etc... whilst clicking like to photos of there social media stars new super cars... whilst I agree that this shit has gone on far too long, I think this generation of youth and that before it are far too quick to point the finger of blame at those of years gone by. Big Business does have blood on its hands when it comes to the climate/environment issues but equally sitting drinking your fancy water from a single use bottle, your coffee from a cardboard cup with your name on, ordering your cloths from shops hundreds of miles away, they(we)all must accept we are driving the issue. (Don’t get me started on how hard it is to dispose of your waste at tips)

(Don’t get me started on how hard it is to dispose of your waste at tips) Much of that i agree with, as i'm sure she would re: how some kids her age are just as bad. She's reaching out to them as well, not just old fuddy duddies like us! Are you therefore saying we should just ignore the issues and carry on burying our heads in the sands then, because some who are the same age as her are just as bad? It IS perfectly fair to point the finger at those of us from days gone by! The kids of today may benefit from the products and by-products that are a consequence of industrialisation, but it wasn't them that created the need for it (they weren't alive) or ignored the decades worth of warnings about it. That's where the damage was done initially and those who created it are doing fuck all about it now. It should he them taking the lead as they created the problem and that's pretty much all she's saying. She has every right to point that out. The whole idea of "well, people her age are just as bad so we can just ignore her and carry on regardless" is precisely why we're in this mess now! Someone at some point has to actually try to convince people to sit up and do something...the sad thing is that when someone does then the "older generation" (myself included), just want to pat her on the head like a good little girl and ignore her, as if we (y'know the ones who fucked it all up and got it wrong in the first place) know better than she does.

(Don’t get me started on how hard it is to dispose of your waste at tips) Hard to disagree with much of what you say - as we are all empowered to recyle more, waste less, take the train more often than driving and dry our clothes on the line rather than using a tumble dryer if we so choose. While no doubt some of it is designed to meet the needs of 'brand Greta' she does - on the face if it at least - lead by example in her modes of travel etc. And I'm sure she would encourage her peers would do likewise. However she rightly addresses the older generation as the people in the positions of power to make the structural, legislative and financial decisions that could make meaningful change across the world are typically middle aged to elderly men.

Yet you're posting elsewhere on this thread wildly generalising about entire generations of people you have no clue about. She’s 16 years old she should be out getting pissed in a field on ropey vodka not getting involved in all of this bollocks. Correct And she'd get a lot more praise on here if she did. What does that tell us? Not really. Most kids don't do that these days, and get frowned upon if they do. Record world temperatures again, record hurricane/tropical storm so far north and east in the Atlantic than before - maybe hitting us at the end of the week.

Easy to hate on the west She should go to China and convince them to start saving the world Or get China to stop making the stuff for us all and reduce their carbon footprint, which is all ours. China are doing massive things to combat it, huge solar & wind warms, massive hydro projects, regreening deserts etc.

They also produce the most electricity in the world from renewable sources www.hamptonholding.com/chinese-companies-have-taken-the-lead-in-renewable-energy/they are also doing massive desert reclamation projects by greening them They have already reached their UN 2030 targets of desertification

Just saw Greta Thunberg in that "Skavlan" talk show on swedish national tv. They were talkin' english all the time, I think it was recorded in N.Y. She managed well. Michael Moore was there too. Most of what he said also made sense, not all. And there was also Steven Pinker pshycologist who said the world has never been a better place, altogether. Obviously, he didn't deny pollution though. Finally, Stormy Daniels, porn actress and director, involved in that farse about if she've had sex w Donald or not. What a bunch. 🤪 cold, sputum and pasta //:musik
