Ince and Powell need to be in the same team (when fit), is that possible in this formation?

Ince and Powell need to be in the same team (when fit), is that possible in this formation? One of them to replace Allen? Or Ince up front (drift wide ala afobe last week) with powell at no 10. Basically we can, but it would be really fucking difficult and make us really unbalanced

Ince just needs his ego massaging regularly and he'll perform, criticise him and he falls apart

I think the problem last season was that he didn’t look arsed half the time not that people thought he was incapable. It is great to see him look like he gives a shit. Yes, much as we need 5-6 'ard workers, we need 2-3 flair players to make the difference. And Ince can do that. (Trying not to get too excited - but that was probably as well as I've seen us play since Jones came in.) Looked positive, I'm sure if we can get a few wins under our belt the players will start playing less and less cautious. Great half from Ince, that tip of the diamond shirt is now his until his levels drop.

Ince looked sharp again today. I think he'll be critical to any success we manage this season. I do think he sometimes drops too deep though.

Class again today. Best player on the pitch first half and brilliant goal. Faded a bit toward the end.
We now have 3 decent players competing for that one position.

Died down in the second half but should start next week. But how does he? Powell should be back, and we'll be playing with one creative player.

Harsh reality of football for Ince today. Did really well then hung out to dry by Jones by sticking him right side of diamond. Failed to track his man for their second which left us wide open at the back.

Tom F’ince, star man, whoop whoop.
Please tell me again what was the score?
Show pony, I thought football was a team game.

Anyone spot Ince playing keepy uppy in the warm up ? He was quite brilliant. Both feet shoulder side of foot head . I’d say 200 before he got fed up and just ballooned the ball in the air

He is capable on the ball
Off the ball he is a liability
Either a)
involved in the game but always likely to play his part in a goal conceded, by...not tracking his man, not putting a tackle In, or doing an Ince special ( which is where he checks his run back to goal, so as to turn up, half a second after the action is over)
Or b)
Just goes missing and drifts out of the game

Ince wasn't a liability off the ball against Charlton, he even ran back into his own penalty area to win the ball at one point. He looks to me, like someone with a point to prove.

What was the chant that was being sung for Ince last night? The same song every club sings about a player who scores with a long shot. Think Leeds started it about Klich It could be 20 yards or 30 yards, everywhere we go, 40 yards or 50 yards, Klich is scoring goals, Klich is scoring goals!!!

Like the idea we played Ince & Powell. Wonder how we'd do if it was...
Butland Edwards Collins Batth Clucas Etebo Woods Ince Powell Duffy Gregory
Or,
Butland Edwards Collins Batth McClean Woods Etebo Clucas Ince Powell Gregory

Mark Duffy could slot into that playmaker role and Jones, who handed the Sheffield United loanee his full debut at Wigan, observed: “I thought he did well. He’s an intelligent player who moved the ball well for us and he will be vital.
“Nick Powell’s been injured, so we felt we needed cover in that area - and we’ve got Tom Ince who can play in that area.
“We needed something a bit different and he’s got a good pedigree.”

Hard to know - but he'll be pissed off if he's dropped tomorrow, after a good game, for a not-quite-100% Duffy. But sometimes little manager comments can be revealing. Proof will be in the pudding, but the fact Jones thought we needed a full-on third option (fourth if you include Verlinden) at No.10 might say quite a lot. Duffy, like CCV, probably hasn't come to make up the numbers given he'll have had other options. It's a bit mad that we've got three players who'll all be expecting to start every week going for that one slot - as well as Verlinden who probably needs loaning out now.

Would expect him to start tomorrow at the top of the diamond.
Interested to see him and/or Verlinden play as on of the two deeper midfielders in the diamond too.

I think he'll play tomorrow but after that I think he might find himself as third choice behind Powell and Duffy. It's very odd that we are so strong there and quite weak, at left back, for example, but I always kind of expected that to some degree at the start of a rebuild.
