There's not doubting his ability he's just a bit of a fucking pansy at times.

Assuming we stick with the diamond in the medium-term... With the new logjam we've got at No.10, with Powell who'll play when fit - and Duffy (who is my new favourite player ) - not to mention Verlinden (who presumably could well be loaned to League 1 at some point in the next couple of weeks now?) Is it conceivable that Ince could play deeper and enter that mix with Allen, Etebo and Clucas? Or is he resigned to scrapping for minutes along with Powell and Duffy - or coming on with the responsibility of changing the game in a different formation when it all goes horribly wrong? The fact that he came on, and was probably overall our best player against QPR, definitely complicates things. If Powell doesn't start tomorrow, presumably he could well start with Duffy not really be up to speed - but with everyone fit, he would be third in line there you'd think?

Ince will be a game changing option from the bench or plying his trade abroad by 3rd September in my opinion

His Dad will take him back over to Inter Milan, like he did years ago on his world tour!!! Some might say that 4-2-3-1 would suit us best, with Powell, Duffy and Ince behind a striker!!!! Etebo and a really good DM might have enabled us to do this, but the jury is massively out on Cousins and Nathan just won't go down this road will he?

If he gets the chance at Number 10 today, he's really got to make it count if he wants to have any chance of a run of games. Once Duffy is up to speed, he does look third in line with everyone in fit, so he's really got to look the part today

I thought the same, but I dont think it's as simple as that. remember the opposition had decided to change tact and defend their lead by then All the words of unity and determination from the club and we get the same old display piss me off On saying that, I'm sure the manager will iron out all the probs eventually.....hopefully 🤪 They’d been defending all game. They’d have snapped your hand off for 0-0. That was evident when they were a goal up and went for the second.

A 20 minute cameo and everyone suddenly forgets the abundance of dross from last season.

A 20 minute cameo and everyone suddenly forgets the abundance of dross from last season. He was one of our best players for half of last season too. He’s a very good player, our best attacker imo. Too many went ott with him last season. Play him on the wing with Powell and Verlinden though.

We've just signed a player who Sheff Utd fans say was their best player during the promotion campaign.
A player they built their team around. An integral lynchpin for their success.
Forgive me if I favour him (without even seeing him play yet) over Ince.
The way they describe Duffy is the complete opposite of the player we saw in Ince last season.
He wasnt the one we could rely on or build a team around. When the chips were down, he disappeared.

Where are you playing them both in a diamond? Fuck the diamond. If Ince doesn't play today then the manager's judgement is under a cloud again. Fuck the system, start with your best players and potential match winners on the pitch and let that inform your system.

I think he probably will start today - but only because Powell might not be fit and Duffy has barely featured for Sheff Utd in pre-season, so we could look to chuck him in the League Cup game instead. I just can't see the minutes long-term for Ince, and he must be seriously wondering what's going on with the Duffy signing. Bad enough, from his perspective, to be Powell back-up, let alone now presumably number 3. Unless there really is going to be a more widely-used Plan B formation that we see much more often than when things have gone to shit and we're wildly chasing the game.

I'm hoping we're already on plan b grapey. A plan that gets Ince and Verlinden in the team and sees Edwards with minutes. I'm going to be disappointed aren't I?

Yes, much as we need 5-6 'ard workers, we need 2-3 flair players to make the difference. And Ince can do that. (Trying not to get too excited - but that was probably as well as I've seen us play since Jones came in.)
