Top 10 and in contention for the play-offs come April is fine by me.
There's been a fair overhaul this summer and I think we need to fine tune, as Jones alluded to on BBC Radio Stoke this evening, within the next 2 transfer windows. It's important that we see continual improvement between now and next may. Naturally there will be ups and downs and as always the fans will get carried away at both but the club needs a period where it's settled and working as a unit which Jones is striving for and has clearly worked on since arriving in January.
It's not always about rapid improvement with short term gain. How many clubs have gone up and haven't been 'ready'. I honestly believe Jones will take us up the season after this one and I think we'll come straight back down. I think if we stick together then we'll become a real quality outfit who will again go up and then make our mark in the league above.
I just hope the clubs hierarchy and the fans give Jones and the club time. This suggestion that we should be getting promoted and are a premier league club by right is nonsense. What worries me is the people who suggest anything other than promotion is failure. It's this right here, right now attitude that will limit us from ever taking serious strides forward because anything other than complete perfection immediately is deemed not good enough. Patience is key.

Jones has spoken, promotion or bust.
Can’t help but praise his ambition.

A good season is promotion.
Very concerned at the transfer window we have had though.

First and foremost to improve on last season. Concede fewer goals, whilst scoring more goals. More attacking football, from footballers keener to play for Stoke. I don't know about the best league position but a cup run would be nice.

Mediocre signings, bizarre team selections, no pace, shocking forwards and a fantasy formation that looks, well a fantasy of Jones’s imagination.
Tenth if we’re lucky with lots of drawers, Jones stated he wanted players believing in his philosophy but I just can’t see what he’s actually trying to put together.

Staying up for me, how we can be sixth in the betting is beyond me. Jones took 20 points from 20 games last season and I've seen nothing in the new signings that suggest we are going to do better than the likes of Derby, Preston, Bristol City, Huddersfied or Hull - all of which are below us in the betting.

Top 6 would be a very good season, I hope that we are there come the end of the season.

After Leeds, Fulham and Cardiff we're joint 4th favourites with Brentford and WBA I think. It is extraordinary when you think Jonesy only won 3 from 20 in the 2nd half of last season. All we have really done since then is bus in a job lot of worthy but unremarkable Championship stalwarts. Hopefully Jonesy can sprinkle some fairy dust on it all and hope it somehow clicks.

What's your grounds for optimism ? Why should we do better than teams that were better than us last season or the teams that came down ? Im not saying that we should be better, but I think that we will be better than the majority. And that is based on good signings, a good squad, a managerial plan but forget all of that its the start of a new season if you can’t be optimistic/excited by that im not sure you are following the right sport.
