People are discussing faults yes, which is fine, but then taking it way too far. e.g. McClean was at fault with his positioning for the goals, but not even an ounce of thought that maybe he will grow into the new position and needs time to get used to it. I think we looked far better than last year to be honest. We played some lovely football, albeit only in parts. Because it is standard James McClean. Brainless play from a bloke who showed last season that he didn’t have a defensive part in his body! Expecting to that change is the bit I find difficult. You don't have to expect it. You just also shouldn't be 100% certain it'll never happen. He's getting used to a new role. Have some hope for once.

People like me have been banging the drum about complacency for the past four years, the trouble is that this forum has members who have posted 10,000 messages and think that they are the oracles of Stoke. When a few home truths are given they band together like a bunch of settlers being attacked by the Indians. A alternative view or interpretation isn’t accepted by some who just regurgitate the same old, same old ! Home truths? Please. A ground with as much atmosphere as the moon and this was way before relegation, bigotry, racism and homophobia and this is the support we give to our players ? Supporters moving away from the famous Boothen End because they wanted to generate a more positive vocal support (Now that is embarrassing) the endless drivel about Bojan, three ninth finishes, Pulis, Hughes & Rowett ! The far right groups that are attaching themselves to our supporters, we had to suffer from the National Front until we politely invited them to leave the party, do you want that surface again ? I could go on about the clubs responsibility to us as customers, prices, infrastructure, what’s the clubs short and long term aims and how are we going to achieve this ? etc, etc, etc

The whole point of the forum is to debate the games and issues about the club, no one should be stopped from airing there thoughts, whether they be positive or negative, but the balance has alarmingly shifted, I posted after a win last season just how quiet the board was it was literally like a graveyard, yet if you came on after a defeat, there would be countless threads about how crap the team and club are we just need some perspective, I personally think we did ok yesterday, we won't know if it will work until the season is at least a few weeks old,

As for McClean it won’t change, he’s had a season to stop what we saw yesterday already and nothing changed. He’s horrible defensively.

I am sincerely sick of the people on this site who most probably have Stoke in their hearts but they just have to voice constant negativity and after each game their bile distorts the reality of the game. Yesterday we played a team that has lots of premiership quality and current England international players. I was disappointed that we lost the game because we didn't deserve to. Bayern says we were "overun" down the left! Really? Another was complaining that Smith played and not Edwards! It's is fantastic that we have two great defenders. Get over it! I believe that Nathan Jones has so far done a marvellous job with the team. It was easy to see Leicester's superior quality but we never let it phase us. Our inability to clinically finish chances ruined our performance. Already our forwards look much more mobile than last year but good chances were missed especially the penalty. Too many people on this site are letting their anger distort the reality of what is going on at the club. They have formed their opinions and after each game they will bombard this site with their unrealistic comments! Isn't it about time you all do what supporters are supposed to do and get behind the team and make this site a little more enjoyable to look at. THIS EXACTLY Leicester had well over £200million worth of talent on the pitch and we deserved at least a draw. Plenty of positives and the only two things to worry about were Shawcross's injury and I must admit McClean at LB was at fault for at least 1 of their goals. Cousins, Lindsey, Smith, Powell and Vokes all looked decent and against a weaker opposition we would have created more chances The main thing was that our movement off the ball was far better than last season. I agree that there is a little bit too much negativity and overall I do think we’re better than last season but are still lacking in key positions on the pitch. Having said that when you say about the 200m Leicester if it’s all down to money spent doesn’t it show what an all mighty mess last season was because we pretty much outspent every team in the division leaving NJ with an incredibly difficult rebuilding task.

So you're saying one single slightly meh (but basically fine in my opinion) pre season performance is all it takes to completely relieve you of any hope? There is the issue. It's a game of football, and not even a competitive one. People need to calm the fuck down. McClean was playing as a winger, the positioning is different there. He'll have more emphasis on learning to stay where he should defensively as a left back.

The MB's gone down the toilet faster than the team has. The Everything Else board needs taking down- it's basically a playground for racists and a complete embarrassment. This board's gone downhill due to the relentless negativity of one person who seems to think it's his mission in life to drag every thread into the same anti-Jones, anti-Butland, anti-Allen, anti-Stoke rant. This.

But you gave Rowett a chance initially mate and that’s the difference ....there’s a handful on here who just criticise and have it in for any player signed by the club and Nathan Jones Like I said earlier it’s not normal That's nonsense though isn't it. The critics on here listen to NJ saying A,B and C and producing X,Y and Z. I mean how does fast flowing attacking football with fit pacy hungry players equate with Ward, Gregory, Powell. It just doesn't. People are well entitled to criticise that. Exactly! Not really followed Jones at Luton but suffice to say he did a good job and they reaped the benefits. He came here promising everyone one a clean slate, and he wanted to play a certain way of attacking football with pace and goals. The reality end of last season was not much had changed ( to be expected in reality ), but a summer of his transfers ( so far ) do not reflect ( in my opinion )backing up this style he promised! Yes if we get Gayle (IF) then this will certainly make things more interesting in the final third, but currently that fast flowing football with pace and goals is no nearer now then last season. Friendlies are hard to judge, you play the lower leagues and win and then lose to a decent Premier league team, but you would like to see glimpses of what he said to expect and there just ain't enough of it on show. Boils down to expectations I suppose.....

I've never figured out how to do that. Is it a case of blocking individual users? Not sure I've got the time to do that as I've got to go to Asda and it shuts at 4pm today. Really easy - click on the name of whoever you want to block. Then on the right next to "send message" there's a settings button, click on that & then block & make sure "hide members posts" is ticked. Easy-peasy & makes it viewing the Oatcake much better! Enjoy When I blocked biscuit (during his 'confused' period) I could still see his original posts but couldn't see his posts when he was quoted, seemed a bit pointless blocking him to be honest. I'm guessing it's worked differently for you?

People forget, football is a game, and it is only as fun as you make it. It's like being positive is now looked upon as some bad thing. Like by thinking we played well yesterday for the most part you are some sort of naïve child, who knows nothing of the real world of football. Just enjoy as much as you can, cause it's a fuckin game.

He's one from the Geoff Cameron school of trying to get the ball in front of the attacker, and like Principle Cameron he's absolutely wank at it. He needs to be more disciplined and sit in which means Allen or whoever else is in front of him doesn't have to track right back into the fullback position unnecessarily. Going to the man is fine but you can't try and win the ball every time, just sit tight. He's a work in progress. I'm worried about his discipline and his final ball being nowhere near good enough but he's worth a chance. Maybe he'll do for a season.

I’m just pointing out to you that personally attacking another poster isn’t on. Unfortunately you don’t seem to be able to see the difference. It’s poor form and I don’t think it’s ok for everyone to stand by and allow it to happen. I don’t agree with everything he says but this thread has turned into a personal attack on one poster. Jones has had a full preseason and has put his tactics ( which created the most potent attacking and best defensive side in all 4 leagues besides Man City at little old Luton) in place. It is a new season, with a new look squad, a new tactic and a new happiness in the camp which is obvious. It's not fantasy to be excited and look forward to the season. The past 3 years have been horrible, absolutely, but the best games are ones where you enjoy it anyway. See Swansea Away after relegation, an awful day where we assumed Lambert would stay, Shaqiri missed a pen, and we had been relegated the week before, but you know what, that is genuinely one of the best away days I've been to, great fun, great atmosphere and a great spirit. Add to that the fact that this pre season has been a great success so far.
