I can see the logic in bowling first, but it's definitely the call you have to back up more. If they get through the opening spell and past the clouds it's road.

I agree with bowling first. I can see us picking up early wickets in those conditions. Their batting is pretty iffy, and I think Archer and Broad could skittle them.

I think it's right to bowl first. Whatever happens in the first session if you're bowling you're still in the game, if you're 45/7 at lunch it's difficult to win from there.....

Weather might have been dodgy this morning but it's not warm up here so I wouldn't expect much swing. And with fine, warm weather forecast for the rest of the match, Headingley pitches are prone to opening cracks on days 4 & 5.
Not a wicket I'd want to be batting 4th innings on facing either Lyons or one of the quicks. There'll be shooters & flyres galore.
I hope it works out for us first innings but I'm not optimistic about a good outcome by Monday night.

Gonna get screwed by the weather here...

Should be Woakes in these conditions.
Edit: That's good from Archer though!

Gonna get screwed by the weather here... Nah, rain on & off until mid afternoon here then sunny & hot for the rest of the test. And Archer bags Harris. Yes!

Deserved wicket, even if it wasn't how they drew it up. Get a few more and we're bang in front.

The ball hasn't moved around as much as England would have liked but they haven't bowled particularly well here, some decent balls but too many wayward ones and too many the batsmen hasn't had to play. If Aussies finish today at 125/3 or something like that with a good forecast ahead could be a struggle for us.....

This is piss poor from England, another 5 runs we've given away think it's the 4th of the innings. Game will slip away if we're not careful.....

Poor decision to bowl imo. I could understand it on a overcast muggy day with little to no chance of rain but with rain on the radar it was inevitable we weren't going to get the weather we wanted to bowl in.

Root was too afraid that after a couple of hours we'd be 50/4. And lets be honest we probably would have been.......

If we had batted first and Australia had bowled exactly as we have, we would have been at least 6 or 7 down by now (and probably all out). We would have played and edged a lot of balls that the Australians have left on line (and length). Mind you Warner must have played and missed 15-20 times against Broad alone. The big problem has been that Woakes and Stokes have been firing it all over the place and we have totally lost control.

I just hope that Stokes and Woakes spell hasn’t cost us too badly, we look a different side when Archer and Broad have been bowling.
