What a recovery this is.
Hopefully the sun is blazing all day tomorrow and we get a good healthy lead going into the second innings.

179 all out- what a collapse ! And no time for England to bat and lose any wickets today! Archer and Broad really were a cut above today. Now need England to bat with application to give the two of them a good rest.

Jofra has the X Factor, that's for damn sure. I reckon Jimmy will be back in at Old Trafford as well, which is bloody exciting.

Amongst the deserved plaudits for Archer it has to be said that Broad is having an excellent series so far.

Archer has possibly saved the Ashes and Joe Root with that display, 133-2 to 179 all out is a stunning comeback.

Sensational from Archer.
All ifs and buts however if he'd played first test, would we have won it (5 fit bowlers throughout) & would he have been pumped even more to skittle them in the 2nd? Who knows, we need a good day batting tomorrow first.

Weather is set fair for the rest of the match. We’ve got to make sure we’re still batting at close of play tomorrow.
The pitch will be a road when the sun is out. It’s about time we made their 3 seamers toil. They haven’t got Siddle and they don’t usually like to bowl Pattinson more than 4-5 over spells. If we can target Lyon there’s going to be a hell of a lot of strain on Cummins and Hazlewood.
Time for Root to step up and make a big hundred.

Decent pitch is this, although the Aussies are using the new ball well.
But you just know we're going to fuck this right up..........

Actually would consider Woakes opening and just say if he can bat 10 overs he’s done his job. Or Denly to open, Bairstow at 3 and pope in at 5. Root just can’t bat at 3 especially when the openers can’t survive 5 overs.
