I’ll give a quick run down of how the contract works
He turns out to be absolutely fantastic and it’s why the fuck did we only sign him for 3.5 years
He turns out to be woeful and it’s who the fuck sanctioned a 3.5 year contract
Hope that helps

Ideally, within 18 months of a contract running down, you consider and start negotiations to extend for good prospects so as to avoid the Campbell situation. Similarly, it’s rare in any contracted profession that I have been exposed to that you get offered more than a 3 or so year deal, such as with Edwards, which is also a bit naive from Stoke.

He’s played through the England ranks and is very highly rated. He should have at least 18 months on his contract. Another example of extremely poor management from Scholes. Apology due. Why? It should never have got this far.

If he doesn't make it, he may have a career in music, at least according to how he completed the contract negotiations: Joe Bursik is delighted to have committed his long-term future to Stoke City after singing a new three-and-a-half year deal earlier today.

Why? It should never have got this far. If Tony Scholes walked in to your house and shit a million quid on the carpet you'd whinge about the mess. Be happy about it for once, it's good news.

Who’s not happy about the news? There’s a difference between being happy about it and not apologising for the balls up that meant he got into his contract with only 6 months left 🤦♂️

Hes signed on for another 3.5 years so it's resoundingly positive. You have absolutely no idea how those contract negotiations have been handled at all and yet once again you're latching on to your criticism based purely on supposition. The fact however is that Bursik has signed the contract which is positive news all round.

Why? It should never have got this far. You can't force a player to sign a contract, one which has been 'on his desk' for the past 7 months.

It’s insanely stupid. You shouldn’t let one of your better young players be in a situation where they have just 12 months of a contract left nevermind 6. There’s no supposition, it shouldn’t happen period and if it does then it’s a balls up one way or the other. It’s positive he’s signed of course but it should never have been left this late.

And how do you know how long a contract has been on the table for him? As for letting him out on loan do you think he would be more likely to sign a new contract if he was sitting on the bench for a youth team at Stoke? As I understand it we have three excellent young goalkeepers out on loan and one playing for the u18 and U23 teams. I know for a fact that Stoke are delighted with the progress Broome has made while on loan at Mickleover and he has been allowed back there for the rest of the season while still playing the odd game for Stoke. Surely playing every week in men's football against experienced forwards (he played against one Ricardo Fuller two weeks ago) and behind an experienced defence is beneficial to his progress. I would imagine that feeling that the club are doing their best to progress you is the most important consideration when a young player signs a contract. They are not left out on a limb on loan either. The club are constantly in touch and monitoring their situation.
