Wouldn't think so. It's pretty common for the 3rd choice to go out on loan. A recall option easily sorts the problem. Is there a special dispensation on recall options for keepers? I'd be very surprised if there wasn't. Especially with the emergency loan system if no professional keeper is available for selection.

I've just Giggled it. Looks like you need the EFL's permission, but it is possible. I suppose that protects the loaning team so that it doesn't leave them without a keeper, especially if we were only bringing him back to be 2nd or 3rd choice. So in answer it is possible but not as straightforward as just picking up the phone and saying get your arse back to Stoke.

When you send players out on loan, there's always a discussion regarding playing time. Clubs will inflict in some deals that the purchasing club have to pay more money if they don't play the player. There's no point in sending Bursik or anyone else out to a club if they're not going to play, it's that simple. We have to be far more ruthless when doing these deals, no more sending Verlinden out only for him to not kick a ball like what happened 18 months or so ago. Of course there’s discussions, but ultimately their game time will depend on how well they train/perform 99% of the time. You have to balance them getting game time with playing at the highest possible standard, and with that comes the risk of them not getting picked week in week out. I would argue that for a young lad like Bursik there are still advantages to him being in a first team squad, in a tough uncompromising league even if he wasn’t playing week in week out, it’s character building and a good grounding for youngsters.....

Absolutely brilliant move for him. Hopefully gets games clean sheets and continues his development.

Still not played a game for them and missed out tonight in the Autoglass because he’s on international duty.
Seems all rather pointless so far.

Just heading back from the England u20s vs Netherlands u20s game where Joe started and he seemed like a real talent. Made a cracking save in the first half and looked dominant with aerial balls. I think he could easily be our 3rd choice, Probably even second if Jack leaves.
Be interesting to see how he gets on at Accrington (If he starts playing regularly there that is)

Sell Jack in January, hopefully for £15M+, then start grooming Joe to be our next NO 1.

He started for them in the league yesterday. Not sure if that’s his first one but it’s been a long time coming if it is. They won 4-1.

The club needs a CRM with all the player contracts on. Fuck me even an excel document.

Give Bauer a new contract instead, he's only got 4 years left on his current one

How are two of our best prospects in the Academy (Campbell being the second) allowed to enter the last 6 months of their contracts?. What a shit show.

Maybe neither want to stay or haven't been offered a contract. No-one really knows. Unless Bursik knows he's going to be number 3 next season, then why would he stay if he feels he can get first team footy elsewhere.

If we were to lose a superb young goalkeeping prospect like Bursik to Celtic, or anyone else for that matter, it would be the conclusive proof that this club couldn't manage a p*ss up in a brewery. Heads should roll if this lad goes for a pittance or, even worse, free. Gross incompetence.

You do realise you cant make players sign contracts even if you offer them and nothing to say its not just paper talk placed by his agent ahead of negotiations or as a marker in case Butland is sold.

Half the people moaning on here have probably never even heard of Joe Bursik, let alone seen him play.
For those that don't know, he's been on loan at Accrington Stanley this season and has played the grand total of 2 league games.

Joe Bursik is an outstanding prospect and is showing his talents at Accrington NOW. Stoke need to renew his contact or face losing him next month to Celtic or Everton. Yet another tragedy for this error prone club.
