Thats what it sounds like?

I am pleased that Stoke have stopped squandering 8 figure sums on players who only prove to be huge disappointments.
The priority is to sort the mid-field so that they actually start to create goal scoring opportunities, only then is the time to splash out on an expensive striker.

I take it a deal sheet didn't go in for him before 5pm 64 page thread for a player we hadn't a prayer of signing You seemed to think the loan option was viable a couple of months ago...? Think that the West Brom statement says it all. He is obviously on a Kings ransom at Newcastle. There is always the loan option ?

Plenty of mileage in that sentiment mrcoke. It is indeed time to get back to the days of hard-working TP-esque players, it's down to the manager to tactically get the best out of them.

Worryingly it appears we were still seeing this as the potential jewel in our crown until very late , yet again the summer long pursuit of our A target has ended failure with the alternatives being a myriad of mediocrity , added to which the pursuit seems to have cost us any semblance of balanced recruitment for the rest of the squad , and was doomed to failure by previous mistakes them it’s another window where new depths have bern plumbed by a truly bankrupt process and those that run it . 50 -55 points for me now the squad is in place , presumably just enough to survive but no margin for error or disastrous momentum caused by a possible horrendous start .

Spot on, also come january 'if' we need too we can revisit gayle but in the meantime we have (imo) a player in who given the chances will score, also campbell will get game time as everybody has been banging on about. Hogan might be a roaring success yet and we might seek to buy him, 26 is a good age for a CF. Being held to ransom on a 30 year old on a massive wage, no ta

Is there a price you would have said no deal too? £20m fee? Pay it? £25m? £30m? What point do you say no? Going by previous posts appears we offered a club record (so more than £18m) That's a lot of money? However he isn't the only goalscorer in the world is he.

Good, I’ve never wanted him in the first place.
Another ageing striker on an enormous wage, we’ve had our fill of them.
You know full well we’ll go straight back in for him in January like the unimaginative dickheads we are.

Not going to come to a team in the bottom half of the championship at best At best?? As bad as we might be benji I don't think we can drop into League 1 by January He's not going to give that contract up so even when Newcastle drop their fee there are still only going to be a very small number of clubs who could even contemplate a deal Three or four tops, we will be one of them no matter what what position we are in.

Probably barely played anyway by then and 6 month older. Let him stay there and pocket his money if that's what's important to him . In the meantime let's do some proper scouting
