Regular watcher of women's football, knows all the ins and outs does kelw. I play but thanks for the heads up. I could name you the last line up in the 0-1 defeat v NZ off the top off my head rather than just look up on Wiki where they are ranked and this team will NOT win the World Cup. Anyone who has seen them this last 6 months can see that. Those that look up who they have played of late and check the current ranking simply on line won't. Yes, regular watcher. Way to make yourself look stupid What a load of sexist bollocks! Because i'm a bloke i'm just using wiki but you're a woman so therefore know it all. You really never fail to achieve showing what an ignorant dick you really are. Women moan about the lack of interest in women's football, then when people do have an interest simply think they can discount people's opinions based on their gender. You're part of the fucking problem luv! I've been watching women's football for about 10 years you stupid wanker. Yeah..."anyone who's seen them play the last 6 months" coming from someone who discounts a trophy they won just 10 weeks ago and then goes on to mention a fucking friendly where 4 players didn't even feature to prove what a fucking expert you are Remind me to be tell you your opinion is bullshit and based just on wiki the next time you comment on men's football...but then that'd be sexist wouldn't it? Fucking hypocritical dinosaur

I’m not sure how that comparison works. I’m sure 14/15 year old boys aren’t going to be much different in strength to a grown woman? Unless someone knows something I don’t... should they have played the under-12s to make it fair? I don't think the comparison works either. Boxing can be and should be equally skilful and technically challenging, whatever the weight. However, I watched my son last weekend in an under 15s 6-a-side. This was in a Buntyland part of the country by the way. Not Stoke. Let alone Dallas. Many of these boys were extremely physical and aggressive. And big. And fast. My son's side was blown away. I imagine the Dallas under 15s are very good indeed. So the result doesn't remotely surprise me. But the comparisons are irrelevant. If the tournament and the profile the BBC is giving it encourages young girls to participate in sport then that alone is a good thing. Of course, it’s unfair to compare women vs men in sport because they will never be competitive against men or even boys. It’s probably a big part of why women’s football doesn’t attract the money as it’s not as good a standard.

If Amir Khan fought Deontay Wilder he'd get twatted. Does that make lightweight boxing not worth watching? I’m not sure how that comparison works. I’m sure 14/15 year old boys aren’t going to be much different in strength to a grown woman? Unless someone knows something I don’t... should they have played the under-12s to make it fair? This is irrelevant, whilst I was doing MMA there was a newly turned 15 year old lad there who was 6’1” and fought at men’s welterweight, a lot bigger than most females in my opinion.

I find it all very sexist to be honest. What about gender neutral or gender fluid football? It's high time we stopped this nonsense. Men should stick to the things they're good at, like football, DIY and driving and women should stick to what they're good at, like washing up, cooking and cleaning. I'm a bit disappointed that England have submitted a team. A women's team out in France playing for a world cup; meanwhile there's eleven blokes sat at home waiting for their tea. Politically incorrect But funny But not if you're serious haha

Since when has women's football been an "imitation" of men's? It's two separate groups of people playing a game to the same set of rules as far as I can tell. If there's any imitating to be done perhaps the men might do some of it. There'd be less cheating, diving and whingeing in the men's game for a start if they did. As for the BBC "hyping" it. Why wouldn't they? They're showing the tournament. Are they supposed to keep it under wraps and let it pop up in the schedules as a surprise? One of the benefits of there not being equal pay (and there won't be for a long long time - as most women players fully accept) is that it is affordable for terrestrial TV who have been priced out of a lot of high profile sport. They're merely looking for other opportunities to include competitive sport in their schedules and with the growing popularity of women's football as both a spectator and participant sport then why not? Great post .shame about the username!!! Never explain, never apologise!!!

Yeah I will, my daughters play football for local teams and they love it. Yes if comparing it (which isnt necessarily fair to do), to the mens game it's a different type of pace & yes the standard isnt the same but the standard & quality is improving all the time & some players especially at International level are very good. I've taken my girls to the Womens FA Cup Final and the recent England v Denmark match and they were both good days out. Its nice watching a game & not being soaked by beer at half time too! Know a girl who used to play for England & plays professionally for Bham City, they earn a tidy packet these days at the top level of the Womens game which surprised me. They mix girls and lads together at a younger age range and some of the girls are far more skillful than the lads and proper boss the matches. Think it was Hope Solo of the USA who got me in to watching womens footy, worth a google search if not sure who she is, her keeping abilities weren't her only assets 😉! I was laughing to myself listening to her talking about feminism and women power. I think she's forgot there's dozens of photos of her on the internet gaping her pussy and winking her arse hole. Irony.

Will be watching three games in Montpellier, bloody hope they are better than this France v S Korea game. The Koreans haven't got a clue and are a good 3 foot smaller than the French. At least in the men's world cup you can rely on the no hope qualifiers sticking a few levellers in to liven up proceedings. Not a bit of it here.
Back to the point. We've tickets for matches involving Brazil, Australia & Germany of the 'better' teams and a last 16 game, featuring Brazil probably. Tickets cheap enough, under 15 euros for the group games and not much more for the last 16 game.
Unlike the BBC who've gone all in the main channel over here have been boldly announcing they're covering the tournament. To a point it turns out. They're covering France only and if they get knocked out that's it - bumped off to a spare freeview channel if there's any interest.

I'm American, and women's soccer (since that is what it's usually called here) is more popular than the men's game, and the female players are more famous than the male players by what seems to be quite a big margin. So I'll be watching and following.
I have a dreadful feeling that the USA will exit in the quarterfinals against France. I even wonder if throwing the group might be better in order to avoid France until later. That's if they make it that far. I'm not that confident after what happened with the German men last year.

They were big 15-year-olds - I will be watching the mighty lionesses, they are miles better than there male counterparts and unlike the males have a genuine chance of actually winning something or getting to a final And yes I know the English men would beat the English women if they played each other - It is a rather pathetic point and one that lacks any intellect whatsoever - so don't bother making it Attachment Deleted

I've tried watching it, really I have, but it is a bit shit! And now there are murmerings of equal pay? BBC is hyping women's football, trying to promote it at every possibility, but the product is nowhere as good as men's football. Would you pay full price to see a cheap imitation act and expect that imitation act to be paid the same as the real act? That sounds very negative but it is a bit shit! Edit: Oh no mickmills is going to shout at me now! It's not Mick you need to worry about duck... 😁😉

Watched a fair bit of the 2015 tournament and found it,particularly England's run to the semi and 3rd place play off,for the most absorbing.
The final was an anti-climax,given that you could see what was coming in terms of the US physically overpowering Japan from the off.
Footy innit, and an excuse to sit in the pub, nowt wrong with that.😉

Edit: Oh no mickmills is going to shout at me now! I certainly won't shout at you for that mate. Re: equal pay, i actually agree in that it shouldn't (and won't) happen anyway. The wages men are paid is because of their worth to that club and the amont of revenue they will help to achieve to bring in (whether that's from league finishes, cups won, advertising clout of a particular player etc. etc.) and a lot is driven from TV rights money. If women's football is able to bring in those kinds of finances then fair play, crack on and pay them the same. After all, it's down to the individual clubs that pay the wages to determine those amounts so it's up to them. The ONLY way they could currently basically raise funds in order to bring the women's players up in line with men, is for individual clubs to basically say "Well, we've earnt x hundred million this year and 95% of that was brought in by the men's team and 5% by the women's team but we'll put 50% into each pot and then they can both get equal pay". There's no way in the world that ANY club will do that, as it obviously then means they have to pay the men less and then they'll consequently fail to attract any decent players because their wages aren't high enough. I'm also pretty sure that the FA, UEFA and FIFA can't insist on what the wages for any player (men or women) can or can't be anyway, as although they have jurisdiction over rules of the sport and clubs that are/aren't eligible to compete in their competitions, they have no jurisidiction or control over individual businesses (which clubs are) and how much those businesses choose to pay their employees. The standard of Owmen's football WILL get better (it has in just the last 10 years or so that i've been watching it). I'd hazard a guess that back in the late 1800's the men's standard was shit compared to nowadays as well, but has got better over the years specifically because of the money that's gone into the game, developments in sports science etc (which again was able to happen due to the money involved in the game) and most importantly the profile of the sport increasing over the years, as that led to more and more young lads engaging from an early age and then playing from a very early age. People have to remember that in most countries around the world (obviously some countries like USA are the exception, but they've always been hampered by the fact that "soccer" isn't a particularly popular sport in general over there and has to compete with Basketball, Ice hockey and American Football), Women's football is still in it's relative infancy in terms of funding, profile and girls playing from a very early age...that's why media coverage and "hype" is essential as without that it has no chance of ever improving, in the same way that men's football would be a shit standard today if it wasn't for the fact that they've had all of these benefits for decades and decades already. Everyone (and every sport) has to start somewhere and i see no problem at all in giving the same opportunities (TV coverage, media exposure etc) to the women as the men currently get and have been getting for about a hundred years. It's only by giving them those same opportunities that it will grow as a sport and enable the standard to increase.
Give them the same advantages (re: media exposure) as the blokes and the standard will improve in years to come and that will consequently bring more money in....but when it comes to wages currently, as with every job they have to be earned and are dependent on what your role brings to the table financially; No business pays the company's best asset who bring in millions the same wage as someone who makes the company sod all, regardless of gender. Until Sky, BT etc. start paying hundreds of millions for TV rights for women's football and therefore Women's teams themselves earn for the club what the Men's sides do, then they shouldn't get paid the same and (like i said) i don't see any way whatsoever how anyone could force any club to pay the same. At the end of the day it took years for the men's game to get to the standard and profile (as a money making entity) where companies were frantically bidding over TV rights and a lot of work and effort to get that. It isn't right that the women (who haven't spent years getting their game to the required standard for TV bidding wars) should just automatically get a piece of that..but give them a few years in the media spotlight and the standard will get better and then the money will naturally increase as a consequence of the hard work THEY'VE then put in to get the sport to that standard.
Toni Duggan on the subject of equal pay - for what it's worth I think she has it bang on (TL/DR; she basically agrees with what you both said on the matter). It's an interesting read overall, especially the level of support women's footie is getting in Spain now. www.theguardian.com/football/2019/jun/05/toni-duggan-equality-footballl-england-barcelona-womens-world-cup

On the subject of the pay gap, the United States national women's team generates more revenue than the national men's team. Yet Jill Ellis gets paid less than Tab Ramos, the men's U20 coach. The women's national team members get paid less for playing international games even though their results are much better. Even with small things like per diems while on national duty, the women get less. It's not a big difference, something like $70 for the men and $60 for the women. But it's an unfair difference.
The same thing happens in Canada. Their men's team is dogshit. I've never even heard of them. Their women's team, on the other hand, is top 5. The women's team brings in more revenue. But as in the United States, the men's team gets more money.
If a men's team gets more money when they generate more revenue, like I believe they should, then a women's team should get more money when they generate more revenue. But that's not what's happening.

Let's be honest, the standard is pretty terrible. The USA women's side (considered to be one of, if not the best woman's team) lost 5-2 to Dallas Boys U15's. It's a no from me. If Amir Khan fought Deontay Wilder he'd get twatted. Does that make lightweight boxing not worth watching? Terrible analogy. Both were/are at the top of their relevant discipline. The standard of women's football is, on the whole, pretty poor. If an amateur boxer fought Deontay Wilder he'd get twatted. Does that make amateur boxing not worth watching? Yes, yes it does.

I'll watch amateur boxing at the Olympics just like I'll watch any women's events at the Olympics. If you want to base it just on quality, then women's running, swimming, and any other women's Olympic events aren't worth watching. Why watch Jessica Ennis-Hill when you can watch the U15 GB decathlon championship? It's the occasion. It's knowing that these athletes have worked so hard, suffered so much, for a few days that will, for better or worse, define their entire sporting career. An opportunity that comes only once every 4 years and may never come again for these athletes. The high stakes make the events tense and emotional, and that is enjoyable.

Please yourself - however if you base your choice of what football to watch on it's quality then I can only assume you haven't bothered with Stoke over the past 2 to 3 years while further - if you had chosen to go and wstch 'quality' at Anfield or The Etihad instead you eould be tarred as a Gloryhunter. The OP asked who would be watching and many responses were negative due to their opinion of the quality. Well we didn't all troop down to Wembley for two Autoglass finals to watch quality football. We went because we supported oir team and there was a chsnce of einning something. The current world cup tournament has two home nations participating so something to get behind, and althoigh the games may not have the pace and athleticism of top mens football that doesn't necessarily diminish in terms if excitement or as an event. If people don't want to watch it that's entirely up to them but I don't necessarily buy the quality arguement as quite a lot of men's football both watched and televised is pretty poor as well.
