Actually, I'm a bit disappointed in Miedema. Had higher hopes for her this tournament. A couple of years ago I thought she was Top Five in the world.

They hadn't better throw the kitchen sink. They'll need that when they get home to wash all the dishes that their husband's have accumulated while they've been pissing about attempting to play a sport that they shouldn't be playing

What? No congratulations sent across the pond? If it make anyone feel better, you can watch the USMNT get their butts handed to them by Mexico tonight.

There's a lot of truth to the stereotype.

USA definitely the best team this tournament, well deserved champions. I thought England were the second best team. They were the only ones to give the USA a major test. The Netherlands were lucky to win quite a few games.

I've been boycotting the men's team because of the corruption, cronyism, and nepotism. I'll be rooting for Mexico tonight. I feel like an awful American for saying that, and I like some of the men's players, but I can't support them until it's cleaned up. Then again, I've heard talk about major corruption in the men's setup in Mexico too. And MANY other countries. Men's football is hopelessly corrupt in all corners of the globe.

No doubt the women's game has other levels of corruption, cronyism and nepotism that will become more apparent as the money flows in.

enjoyed the whole tournament , hope it creates more opportunities for women's football and really hope Sky don't take it over and kill the audience off just as it is growing. No doubt US the strongest team . England did well but need to be much tougher at the back in both the last two games letting soft goals in from basic errors

Donald Trump must be fuming 😅
And when they reject his White House invitation as they unanimously will, he'll deny that he ever invited them. That's what he did with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, and Philadelphia Eagles teams when the entire teams boycotted the White House. Julie Ertz's husband was on that Eagles team. When most but not all of the New England Patriots and many Winter Olympics athletes boycotted, it was a bit harder for Trump to say he didn't invite them 😅

No doubt at all that the better team on the day won, and the best team overall. Terrific second goal. Great tournament, and now feeling bereft until 3 August. Hopefully you and Duckling will be celebrating by getting completely trolleyed, followed by some of Musik's very finest funky cigarettes.

^ Jebus, not everything revolves around Trump. I'll enjoy the victory for knowing that at least there is something my country can point to when it comes to the World's Game (no doubt derided since it's "only" women), because we sure as shit aren't accomplishing anything on the men's side.

Having been something of a critic of women's football and it's relentless pushing by the BBC, I've got to say I really, really enjoyed this World Cup and it was a refreshing change from what we sometimes see in the men's game.
I'm a convert.

The Netherlands were lucky to win quite a few games. Yes,the US definitely were the best team in the tournament, deserved winners, against the French in particular and in almost all the the other games too you were left rather ominously feeling that they always had at least one more gear to go to no matter how they were pushed. Teams are definitely catching up though in technical terms, but they remain way ahead of the curve in terms of decision making and tactics/game management. They're extremely well drilled. If I have a minor criticism,it's that,as a friend observed, they have almost the aura of Revie's superb Leeds side: capable of genuine magnificence, but somehow could be magnificent and a little more likeable with it. Perhaps that's just the envy sustained success engenders? 😉 It's been great to watch games, that for the whole, didn't have all the play acting and cheating seen in the mens' game. Whether it will remain that way as more money comes into the women's game cosequently raising the stakes in conjunction with more teams bridging the gap in quality, leading more evenly matched teams to resort to nefarious methods to gain an advantage remains to be seen. Bring on the Euro's in 2021.Would be fantastic to see England in the final at a sold out Wembley

That was the biggest disappointment of the tournament. Go back to 2011, and there wasn't any shithousery at all. Go back to 2015, and it was only Brazil and Colombia doing it. But now it's creeping into the women's game at an alarming rate. There was some degree of diving, time wasting, and/or referee abuse in almost every game I watched. It won't be long before they're as bad as the men. The women's game has become more similar to the men's game in both good and bad ways.

It won't be long before they're as bad as the men. The women's game has become more similar to the men's game in both good and bad ways. I think it was always going to seep in to the women's game as matches became more competitive and harder to win legitimately. What's perhaps helped the sporting side of things hitherto,is there has always been one or two teams, whether it be Germany japan,or the USA et al,that have been markedly superior to the others in competitions, and hence haven't needed to cheat. I still think there's time to do something within the women's game to prevent the dark arts from truly taking root and flourishing, maybe there are more salutary lessons to be learned from the men's/women's rugby game regards respecting officials and the 'spirit of the game' etc as opposed to simply importing wholesale the culture per se from men's foorball. Whether the game's custodians have the will and vision to contrive something effective is open to question. I must admit that when I heard on the car radio about the Premier Leagues purported interest in bringing the Women's Super League under its auspices my heart sank at the thought of the shithousery and mardarsery that would start to manifest itself as the Women's game became more like the Premier League Lite as opposed to an entity with it's own unique culture and flavour.
