Thanks for the updates - sorry I couldn't watch it but the missus had invited friends round for lunch and they've only just left !
Sounds like an easy win even though we were a bit depleted through injury.
Hopefully building momentum now for the rest of the competition !

20 overs a side minimum. (Or maybe more usually the side batting second has to have time for at least 20 overs, unless they win or lose in less). I think your getting confused with abandoned matches? In theory a side could be dismissed with just 10 balls. This would lead to a result. If a game is reduced because of the weather I believe 20 overs must be bowled to constitute a match I thought that it didn't need explanation that if a team is bowled out they aren't allowed to bat on until they have reached 20 overs, or if teams can't reach 20 overs each then the match is abandoned as a no result. It seemed to me that the original question was how many overs are required for a game to produce a result which in ODIs (unless either side is bowled out in less) is 20 overs per side.

Top quality stuff from England today in every department (well, maybe the fielding was a little off - but I'm in a forgiving mood),
I think England have now arrived at their preferred starting 11 for this tournament which isn't good news for Mo! It seems England want the explosive pace of both Woods and Archer along with Woakes and Plunkett who seem to have a knack of taking wickets in the early and middle overs respectively. Rashid is the one front line spinner with Root as back up. Stokes, of course, provides more cover for the seamers.
That said, I would give Mo a shot in the next match against Afghanistan and bat him somewhere in the top 4. Hopefully he can get a decent score and restore some confidence. We may well still need him at some point in the tournament.

Sri Lanka have imploded after a very good start.
Australia look set to win again despite another average performance. On the evidence we’ve seen from them so far they’ll be side everyone wants to play in the semis.

Looks like a comfortable win for the Aussies by 87 runs in the end.

In today's other game South Africa need just 127 to beat Afghanistan - they're currently 91-0 after 22 overs.
Edit SA won by 9 wickets

India well in control against Pakistan in the "big" game. Despite all the stories in the media about it being an absolute sell-out there looks to be a lot of empty seats - maybe the British "summer" has something to do with it.
Edit: India win by 89 runs on DLS method

Great to see so many people who love cricket. The competition needs a really close game to fire the imagination though.

Mind you the corporate situation at OT always has an impact - it certainly does at T20 games.

7/7 for India v Pakistan in World Cups. A crazy stat when you learn Pakistan are way out in front in overall ODI games.

I think so too, Morgan could be passed fit for Afghanistan but I'm not sure I see the point really. I'd put Dawson/Ali in there against Afghanistan just for some game time and make sure the skipper is well rested ahead of Sri Lanka.

Watching today they appeared to suggest both will indeed miss the next two games to allow niggles to heal.

Bangladesh currently going well in their run chase against Windies and are 156-3 . They need another 166 runs from 159 balls

Only problem for Bangladesh is their tail is quite long. I think this pair and the next man in will need to do most of the heavy lifting if they are to win.

I agree - important that these two stay at the crease. Currently 230-3, so 92 needed from 106 balls.

Terrific win for Bangladesh 322-3 by 7 wickets, 51 balls to spare, and joint second highest run chase at a World Cup.
Windies were pretty dismal in the bowling department.

Were the windies bowlers ever drug tested back in the day? I don't think they needed drugs back then, they were seriously good ! Marshall, Ambrose, Holding, Roberts, Garner, Walsh etc etc were a totally different class in pace, skill, and accuracy. Edit: I just found this - what a list ! link

Shakib al Hasan is one of the game’s greats and if he played for any other nation probably would have got the recognition he deserves. Averages high 30s batting and low 30s bowling across hundreds of games, often batting or bowling with no other quality played alongside him.
