I think so too, Morgan could be passed fit for Afghanistan but I'm not sure I see the point really. I'd put Dawson/Ali in there against Afghanistan just for some game time and make sure the skipper is well rested ahead of Sri Lanka. We should use this game to rest our injured players and play the ones who have been missing out. Batting first, absolutely makes sense.

Is James Vince the most predictable batsmen we've ever had? Looks threatening then gets himself out, no matter the pitch or opposition.

If there is one ground that I would be nervous about playing Afghanistan on it would be Old Trafford on a used wicket. They have good spinners and it looks as though they are playing four of them. However their batting looks weak so any score over 250 should be enough for England.

They've got some rippers in there make no mistake, but having seen the turn on offer and the added pace of Archer and Wood it's looks like being more a problem for them than us!

Should aim to tee off from here, their spinners haven’t landed enough in the right areas and have been dutifully punished for it. Be nice to see Root get another 100.

350+ here the way these two are going.
Afghanistan have been like a rabbit in the headlights this tournament, good experience for them but a real shame they haven’t showcased their skills.....

Morgan got his eye in lol Quite incredible to think there was more than a murmur before this year about dropping him. He's the beating heart of this side.

Needed a lot more from Rashid Khan and Nabi, but their batting has been appalling. Even more so when you consider they have been 40,50,60 odd for none on two or 3 occasions.

What's the record score in the world cup could be in danger of going.

What's the record score in the world cup could be in danger of going. 415, Australia v Afghanistan. 3 from the last World Cup in the top 5.

Every time I watch Rashid Khan he's rubbish, must just keep catching him on a bad day..... Think it's the leg-spinner effect, if he doesn't take wickets he just goes around the park. He's definitely stronger in the sub-continent too. He was absolutely marvellous when they tied the Indians in the Asia Cup last year, defending 6 off the final over. Only 20 though and very good early career exposure in the IPL and here.

That's why Warne was such a freak he'd literally bowl on anything.....

Imagine breaking that stand, and then seeing Jos Buttler walk to the crease.

Even Moeen remembered how to bat again ! Wow, is that the most costly missed catch/chance in World Cup history? Morgan didn't half make them pay.
120 off 46 balls after the missed catch I think I'm right in saying.

That was just phenomenal batting from Morgan - shame we couldn't make 400 but nevertheless that was some batting performance.

Hopefully won't matter, but if it's cloudy with about 15 overs or so bowled, just spin the next 5 as quickly as possible to ensure a result.

Morgan hit 17 sixes in his innings, also breaking the record for the most number of sixes by a batsman in an ODI innings. The previous record for the most number of sixes in an ODI innings was 16 – held jointly by Rohit Sharma, AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle. 148 off 71 balls! Moeen's strike rate was 344!

There were also more 6s hit today (33) than in the entire 1979 World Cup (28)! I know there have been one or two less than complimentary comments above about Rashid Khan but I don't think I have ever seen a batsman (Gayle or Kohli included) who has taken him apart in such a clinical and destructive manner as Morgan did today. Hopefully that little cameo might spark Moeen back into form now he has rediscovered the middle of his bat.
