People talk about classic films, plays and television. Nothing compares to live sport. I've not felt like I have today watching that in my 28 years, football included. The 2003 rugby world cup final in Australia came very close as that was a nail biter as well and Jonny Wilkinson won it right at the end.

The closest I can remember was when Nick Faldo overcame a 6 shot deficit to beat Greg Norman a good few years ago in the Masters. Sport now and again throws up these amazing unscripted days. Botham at Headingley is my top sport moment (outside SCFC)

Yeah I remember the moment but I was only 13 so wasn't really nervous watching it. Today, I was pacing about and shaking like a mad man. Until that last moment where I could shout.. "HE'S OUT, HE'S OUT.. YESSSSSS JOS"

What a great tournament that was. Some great games and memories made. The final was a classic game slightly low scoring as usual at lords and just when i thought it was NZ game two massive slices of luck and we grab a tie. i had counted my chickens when we made 15 off the super over but NZ again equaled it but the run out had 3 of us jumping for joy. NZ as always a credit to the game. Even my wife watched quite a bit of cricket for the first time during the tournament and knows 1000 times more about the game as she did in mid May. Even wants to come to a 20/20 game at OT now which is going too far

Who's place does Archer take in the test side?!... I actually can't see him playing, in the first test anyway. Roy is a definite though. Burns Roy Bairstow Root Stokes Buttler Moeen Woakes Broad Archer Anderson I like Wood but for all his express pace he doesn’t take enough wickets.....

Certainly in my own experience I would have been a better player with one of those on my head. It gives kids a lot more confidence.

Wood is streaky but he at least has test experience and for an Ashes series that might prove crucial?!.. I suppose his ongoing ankle injury could leave the door open for Archer but in the long term, I see Archer taking Broads place. Sam Curran in home conditions will also be in consideration you'd have thought?! In any case, I now cannot wait for it !!

Well, that was an ever so slightly exciting afternoon/evening of sport. For one fleeting moment I actually thought we'd thrown it away in the final over, but with one little piece of luck (the fluke six when it bounced of Stokes' bat and hit the boundary for an extra four) and we end up being World Champions.

Fantastic let's enjoy the moment to morrow the selectors can make the hard decisions. We are fortunate to have probably 15 players who could walk into any team

Wow what a game. They will be still showing this game in 50 years time. Such fine margins. The catch where the fielder put his foot on the boundary and the throw that hit Stokes bat and went for four were crucial. I do feel a bit sorry for NZ, what a horrible way to lose, but at the end of the day we have won the World Cup!!! I feel the same. If roles were reversed we would be gutted. I actually think that they were (whisper it!) very unlucky not to win. I would have preferred it to be Australia losing like that.....

I thought we'd thrown it away on a couple of occasions even after hauling ourselves back into it. Was so nip & tuck towards the end nevermind the swings and roundabouts of the that super over! When NZ hit that 6 I thought they were almost there then. That was one of them games where you had to witness it live to truly appreciate the drama and the enormity of the result & insignificance of what actually happened. Well played England & it's great to actually win a world cup final & the way it was won will live long in the memory! Luck may have been on our side to help us achieve it today but we're long due a bit of luck & why shouldn't we savour it...Every other country usually does, at our expense too! Quick mention for Ben Stokes too, has put all that's happened behind him & has had an outstanding tournament & whilst the team as a whole has been magnificent during the World Cup series, Stokes has on occasions carried us over the finish line when all hope had been lost.. He was the fine margin between defeat & victory today.

Curran would be the more natural replacement for someone like Jimmy surely?! Archer isn't your traditional swing bowler and I can't see us picking a line up that just has Woakes as a pitch it up swing bowler in it. Jimmy will be fine anyway.. *fingers crossed*

We've basically won it on penalties 😎 I would say draw at full time, draw on penalties but won because we had the most corners.🤣

Very refined the cricket boys and gals . I hate that stupidity of throwing beer. Was only one in Trafalgar Square and one what looked like a Pimm's fruit cup. Well done on that front.
As a non cricket fan was great to watch. The fans were lapping it up. Those boys in the stripey blazers and caps were having a wizard time. Had to feel sorry for NZ, even more so as the best English player born there, he's a bit good. Neither deserved to lose but great excitement.

I’d be looking at like Roy Sibley Bairstow Root Stokes Buttler Curran Woakes Archer Leach Anderson Don’t really like Bairstow at 3 but struggle to get him in any lower unless Root grows a pair and bats at 3.

I think in the long term he will be Broads replacement, they're quite similar in the lengths and style. However, are we really going to be dropping Broad for the first Ashes test at Edgbaston?! I really can't see it. Archer is the future though for sure.
