And there have been plenty where it's turned out brilliantly for the player involved. Sportspeople have to back themselves and have to dream. He'll also know that there's every chance they'll be playing 60-odd games next season, most of their current centre backs are terrible and the manager, if he lasts, has spoken about his commitment to playing young players. The pathway there isn't necessarily as blocked there as it is at, say, Chelsea. I’m sure that is the line Utd’s representatives will feed him and who knows perhaps they will be as good as their word but the odds are against it. I am fully aware that it’s probably a foregone conclusion but it’s not beyond the realms of reason for a talented youngster to back himself and opt for an alternative (and still highly lucrative)route. It's highly unlikely and precedents are decidedly hard to come by. Money isn't always the sole motivating factor for footballers.

Everyone saying our academy produced this lad, didn't we sign him like one year ago from Cherry Orchard?
Imagine how they feel, I imagine we payed them a mere pittance if anything at all.

Really hope this is true and that he'll have 20+ games for us next season. I also hope we can tie him up for 4-5 years and sell him to United for £50M+ before his contract is up.

I think he's special. This is great news if true.
There are some players you only need to see a couple of times to work it out.

True or not, this is the message we simply have to put out there to make the shit realise they have to pay serious money for him.
Still have my doubts that he'll be with us come next season though.

We're basically publicly telling United he won't go on the cheap.
If they want him, he'll be gone.
We just need to get the best possible deal.

Palace showing the way posted a £70m price tag on their full Back as they know how desperate united are we should pick the daftest number we can think of and say come and get him as the works most expensive centre half under the age of 19 . Could sort out FFP out for a while Their full back has had 40-odd games in the Premier League, that’s the difference. Take off £1m a game and it’s a deal

If we genuinely think he's got what it takes then we won't sell him. Why would we. We don't need the money. Why would he leave now. He's just turned 18 and is not even close to starting PL games. Dont forget he had a really tough time against Tom Pope 6 months ago. I think Collins will win the war but Pope won the battle that day. Any agent or advisor worth his salt would be saying stay for now. Play regular football at good level and see from there. A promotion season with us makes him a twenty or thirty mill premier player.

That’s just it, it comes down to the player. I struggle to think he’d turn down United, especially considering the state we’re in and the fact we didn’t really play him last season at a time we had no decent centre halves... Hope he does stay.

If I was 18 and Man U were interested I would be gone like a shot and I am a local boy, well I was 40 years ago, who is SCFC through and through. At the end of the day it's a job and we all go to work for the money.

Darren Fletcher knows a player when he sees one. If he thinks Collins is ready for man u I believe him. I hope we ask for twenty million and if they don't pay up I look forward to him playing a big part for us next season.
I've seen plenty of both centre halves we've been linked with, and neither are anything special. This lad could have all the answers we need

Let’s just look at the market at the moment though proven champ winger in James welsh international 15mill, Clarke at Leeds good season 10 mill bid from spurs. Offering seven mill for a player with less than 180 minute of first team football is a big bid really

Yes but that's a lot ifs, innit? regular football, good level, promotion season...that's not necessarily words you'd expect to see in the same sentences as SCFC in 2019, are they?

What's this real world bollocks? Wanting Stoke to succeed is my real world. People have an opinion themselves. This is mine, you smart Alec's! P.S. Whether I go, or don't go, I still want the best for Stoke, even if I'm only going to watch them on the tele. Oops! I'm repeating myself again. Better not eh?

Play him. Having said that Clarke is getting rave reviews at Pompey.

I think it's mad money for a kid with obvious potential, but has only started 1 senior game, and, realistically, he's 4th choice here behind Batth, BMI and Ryan, so he'd struggle to even make the bench next season unless NJ continues to neglect bringing in an actual left back and persists with BMI there...

I'll be very disappointed if BMI is still at the club next season. I can't bring myself to think about him potentially blocking the route to the first team for Collins, it would be a travesty.

After the usual suspects (Imbula, Badou & The USS Wimmer) I have a strong feeling Martins Indi will be one of the first out of the door. Gutless minge, the blokes massive and he’s about as menacing as being coughed on by Alan Carr.
