Finally some good news, IF the reporting is accurate ...headlines tomorrow something like ..- north midlands Football club finally grows a spine'. John Coates previously refused to let others leave even for big profit, he said as much himself. I don't doubt the Coates' willingness to hold onto anybody decent even when profitable bids come in. For the mistakes that have been made at the club they can't be accused of that, can they?

We haven't even been linked with a left back yet, I just hope we ain't gonna stuck him there again..... We've been heavily linked with Justin Justin is a right back by trade, would be decent cover for both flanks but would rather see an out and out left back coming in

For the mistakes that have been made at the club they can't be accused of that, can they? There are two very controversial dismissals the club have yet to make as far as I am concerned. Perhaps I am being unfair but, I dont see bravery as a trait in the organisation presently. Maybe I am wrong but this will be an intersting test of resolve.

I know one thing. If we keep Collo and he doesn't make it, those slamming the club for not cashing in will be the ones who condemned the notion of a sale.

This doesn't happen often at Stoke City - but this lad really has got all the hallmarks and pedigree of being a big player for someone -- why not us ? and if he doesnt make it -well he was here anyways Me, I would not judge badly if we kept him and this did not ultimately work out Theres a thing called bench marking in industry and business I Think the likes of Liveperool, ( fined) Chelsea and Now Manchester United looking to poach players out of our acadamy and 18/21/23's This more than suggests to me, after some years of trying, we are being bench marked, rated even by 'top of the tree' and finally, begining to acquire attract and retain real assets which of course, we should maximise by at least trying them out properly in our own blinking team! Surely ? And, what harm would an improved contract and another couple of season (with us) do to this lad ? --(it seems his advisors are telling him this too) he goes to United right now and he could easily be 'lost' in their system - or a few weeks down the line, they just sign another shit load of big name defenders and hes lost again - AS HAVE HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS BEFORE HIM.

Good fullbacks should be adept on either side.

It should be simple if we don't want to sell him then reject their offer and move on.

If their end of season form continues he could find himself back in the championship How good would that be. I think they will do well to finish top six next season. One of the great nights seeing them play their last division one game at the Victoria ground , good bye United goodbye ringing round the ground . and those who talk of trouble saw plenty that night including bonfires on the stoke end

Yep as much as Butland needs to be away -this lad needs to stay and play first team matches. If hes as good as people, reckon - and the attraction of Manchester United suggests he well might be AND, the fact we've missed out on Matty Smith (the Pompey lad) surely the answer here pretty much presents itself :
Give him a better contract and shove him in the first team

Can't get higher praise than that. I think we all saw what kind of character he is at Middlesbrough when it kicked off with Verlinden and a few of their players.
