Another on foreign soil please. Germany, Spain, Portugal. I appreciate we need to get fit etc. But Jesus Christ it's an entertainment business. Something for us long suffering fans would be nice... Those trips are fun for sure but I want the side to be ready for August. we don't normally get going until October, so September will do this time

So that leaves one obvious date for a game on foreign soil, Saturday 13th July. Don't let me down.

Well. Time is Passing. Stoke players, whoever they might be, will be reporting for pre season training in just 3 weeks time, on June 22nd.

No games abroad this time ? Just a training camp ?
I fancied a little tour, this is disappointing.

Players don't deserve it, I'd have them running up and down Parkhall hills and have friendlies against Rhyl, Newcastle town and leek.

Anyone heard anything, or got any inside info from the club, about where NJ will be taking the players for this European training camp?? And if so, is there any plans for a possible game thrown in?
Past few seasons the Euro away fixtures like St Pauli, Leipzig, Hamburg, Cologne have normally been announced by now, and it's always something we look forward to and try to attend. Had some great times at these games!
With NJ seemingly a stickler for routine, I was speculating that he may favour something similar to what he did last season with Luton. Luton went to Slovenia Saturday 7th - Saturday 14th July. On the Friday they played Croatian side HNK Rijeka, from the pictures it looked like it was at a training pitch, and not at a stadium as such.
I understand the need for a focused pre-season, and not arranging games for the sake of it, but it would be nice to have one of these types of games to look forward to.

I could have sworn I read somewhere that there won't be any foreign games this pre season. But I can't remember where I read that, so there's a fair chance I dreamt it.

The obvious teams to play would be Norwich Sheffield utd and villa.
I don't know if that's possible
But please something sensible
If the players turn up as unfit and off the pace as recent starts to the season, the knives will be out immediately. And quite right too. nj is not responsible for previous pre seasons but he is responsible for this one
He needs to get the players fit and he needs to get them organised
To get them championship organised, they need to be playing teams of the level of Norwich Sheffield United villa etc

Yeah - Sentinel say the training camp is "central Europe", so favourite could well be where he took Luton in Slovenia last summer. He seemed to be full of praise for it. www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-nathan-jones-wedding-2969314After a short break, he will be back at the club lining up new signings and greeting his players on their return for pre-season training on June 26. Then there is a week-long training camp planned for central Europe from July 6 to July 13 before the new season starts in August. www.lutontown.co.uk/news/2018/july/nathan-in-slovenia/

17-18 pre season was in Slovenia for Nathan’s Luton Town 👍 NK Bravo 2 Luton Town 6 Vassell & Collins at the double as Hatters hit six in Slovenia
15 July 2017
The Town had plenty to cheer about when taking on NK Bravo this afternoon – with six goals rattled past the Slovenian third division champions in Maribor.
Nathan Jones fielded ten different players in each half, but his side’s domination of the team who are about to embark on their first season in the Slovenian second tier was equal either side of the break with both halves won 3-1.
Isaac Vassell hit two and Jordan Cook one before half-time, then James Collins (pictured above) followed up his first Town goal at Bedford last week with a second-half double before Elliot Lee tucked a late penalty away to bring up the half-dozen.
Vassell got the ball rolling in the eighth minute as the Town controlled the opening period, the striker shooting under the hosts’ keeper’s body after being put through by Olly Lee.
Cook and Lawson D’Ath both had good chances to double the lead before Bravo equalised on 32 minutes, but it was soon 2-1 to the Hatters with Vassell tapping in from close range after D'Ath and Olly Lee combined to set him up five minutes before half-time.
Two minutes later it was three when Jack Senior crossed from the left for Cook to head home, and after the mass changes at the interval, Jones had to wait until just before the hour for the fourth goal, when Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu created the chance for Collins’ first of the day in the 58th minute.
A harsh handball decision against Dan Potts presented Bravo with a penalty almost immediately, but Czech keeper Marek Stech pulled off a terrific save and in the 79th minute Collins had his second, and the Town’s fifth – Luke Gambin crossing for Elliot Lee to slip the ex-Crawley striker in for a tap-in.
Elliot then joined his brother on the scoresheet in the 86th minute when he picked himself up after being fouled in the box to net the sixth from the spot, before the Slovenians snatched a second consolation in the dying seconds.
The Town fly back home tomorrow and return to training at The Brache on Monday before the nest pre-season friendly at St Albans City on Tuesday night, kick-off 7.45pm.
TOWN FIRST HALF: Shea, Stacey, Cuthbert, Trialist, Senior, Bakinson, O Lee, D'Ath, Shinnie, Cook, Vassell
TOWN SECOND HALF: Stech, Musonda, Mullins, Trialist, Potts, Rea, McCormack, Gambin, Mpanzu, Collins, E Lee

In 18-19 Luton also had a week’s training camp in Slovenia playing a friendly against Croatian league runners up
So my guess is Stoke will go to Slovenia and play a team on Saturday 13th July against a side that won or finished well in their league last season.

Unconfirmed rumours of friendly v Duisberg on July 13th In English any idea what it says mate? Parks pitch? Stadium? Think the suggestion is it'd be in their stadium on their 'family day'? www.reviersport.de/artikel/msv-duisburg-faehrt-nun-doch-ins-trainingslager/On July 13, just over a week before the third league start, a special treat awaits the MSV fans on the family day. At present, those in charge with English club Stoke City are in the final talks regarding the final friendly at the season opener.

Edit: also worth nothing that article talks about them having a training camp in Holland potentially? Not sure what's going on there and if the friendly would be after that (presume so).
