Refusing to play because they’ve not been paid. What happens with the points?

Refusing to play because they’ve not been paid. What happens with the points? Bolton get deducted 70 points next season

Are they effectively free agents now? Are any of them any good, even as back up?

Pretty sure they will fulfil the last 2 fixtures, then will hope for a buyer.

First time this has ever happened in this country in a professional game apparently.

While I some sympathy for the players and the people who work for the club, this issue has been going on for a while now. 8 trips to court in the last 18 months to avoid winding up orders should have set alarm bells ringing. How they've avoided administration for so long is a miracle, but its on the doorstep now. Time to face the music.

Scandalous, are the players seriously hard up? I very much doubt it given average salary in the championship. They should have played the last two games then started court action. They would all be free to find new clubs in the summer.

There is a wrong assumption that all footballers are greedy and rich. Not outside the PL some aren’t. In fact there had to be special arrangements for training when coaches were cancelled in order to save money and the younger lads could not afford to go by train.

They would all be free to find new clubs in the summer. It's not just the first team though, this will likely be affecting their young players who wouldn't be on much more than a grand a week. Obviously a grand a week is a good wage, but if you've gone 3/4 months without pay, how are these youngsters paying for their apartments?

Blimey. These things get threatened but are usually resolved. This is an extreme situation. Can't blame the players really.

I say fair play to them, I don’t think they’ve been paid since December/January It’s all relative to their earnings, I bet their earnings to outgoings are £15k a month so not getting any pay for 3 months probably means they are £45k in debt

That’s just bollocks, the players are the figurehead and they are making a stand for every single person working at BWFC from themselves to the ticket office etc This money argument from people like yourself always makes me sad tbh, if somebody is on £20k per week they live a life to that ie cars, mortgage etc etc that have to be payed for just in the same way as somebody on £500 per week has to pay for theirs They should be proud of themselves for making a stand

To be fair, they’re already down and the 2 games left are against teams with nothing to play for., meaning no real harm done to anyone else.

It's rightfully making a stand and anyway most of them can't afford to just go months without pay.
Even if you earn £5k a week £260k a year isn't the sort of wage you would love to go months without getting

Would you go to work for 3 months without pay? Try being Self Employed. 90 day payments are the norm. They’re not self employed though are they? They’re under contract and are expecting monthly payment of salary. Which the club aren’t meeting. It’s a fatuous comparison because it’s not just affecting the playing staff or even just the first team, you’ll have young kids relying on the club to pay rent, bills etc with standard salaries. Likewise the non playing staff.

EFL now ordering them to play a youth side, who likely haven’t been paid either. A mark of shame for the EFL, how does this keep happening?

i thought when games were forfeited, the team that didn't forfeit were given a 3-0 win, not 1-0?
