Embarrassing if they appeal, red card all night long. Would you say it was a clear goalscoring opportunity? He still had a long way to go didn’t he? He had a long way to and he'd tried to cut back inside breaking his momentum even more. It's as basic a yellow card as you can get but don't think I've ever seen a red dished out for something so soft.

How sure are we Bauer’s going to feature? Hasn’t been in the 18 for a couple of games. Needs must unfortunately. Who else is there?

Whatever happened to your post match reports? For what it’s worth Bauer should start on Saturday but feels as though he’s in Jones’ sin bin for whatever reason. Real shame.

I just don't have time to do them anymore sadly Nick. I think we probably should start with Bauer but it'd be nice if he could just for once not display all the positional sense of Geoff Cameron fused with a beached whale.

Whilst I don’t have another name to suggest in his place, I think I’d be very surprised to see Bauer get a game. Last night’s suspensions have really put a dampener on Saturday. I make no excuses for not being a Sam Clucas fan but I would never give him game time in the middle of the pitch, certainly not at the expense of Bojan and Adam.

I'm certain Woods will play.

Fair enough well good to know you’re still a regular poster, was wondering where you went! And yes indeed ha! I’ve always thought Bauer could make a decent enough winger for us but I doubt we will ever get to see. Would be staggered if he wasn’t first out the door come the transfer window.

Butland Bauer-Batth-Williams-Clucas Allen-Etebo Verlinden-Bojan-McClean Vokes I would be amazed if this is not the team for Saturday. Then again, I was totally and utterly gobsmacked by the selection and formation employed last night, so what do I know? The only imponderable may be he might fancy sneaking Sir Charles of Dundee into that midfield to add some "ballast", at the expense of Bojan, but I sincerely hope he doesn't.

I just cannot see Jones calling on Bauer. I do not see him selecting Adam either! My thoughts are that he will go three at the back! Williams, Collins and Batth. A good game to start Collins! He will start with Woods and Clucas as wing backs. Allen and Etebo will be in centre midfield. Verlinden Vokes and McClean will be the frontline.

Doesn’t really have any of the qualities required to play there does he?

Could Tre Pemberton do a job as a wing back if we go 3 5 2?

The danger on Saturday is from corners, free kicks and long throws which they are very good at.Getting Shawcross back is a must for me because we’ll need all the height possible against them. Their away form is dreadful though so it’s nothing to fear as long as we take care of their aerial threat

He has some experience as a full back, he is experienced, he can receive and pass a ball, he is confident on the ball and he can tackle. He certainly has the football knowledge to take on the responsibility. Playing against Rotherham will be less demanding than Swansea!

That’s quite a shout based on a 25 minute appearance. It would also put Baath’s place in jeopardy as he is no upgrade at all on the ball from Shawcross.

He hasn’t looked the most mobile either, and we need that in at least one of the full back positions. How regularly has he played at right back? Not convinced we should be thinking Rotherham will be a cakewalk either. They’re in a scrap and will be looking to claw their way out.

No doubt he will declare himself fit, as that is his nature, to sacrifice his fitness and health for the club, but he's not actually doing the club any favours by doing so. As for Batth, I'm no fan of his. I will acknowledge that he came in at a time when everyone in the team was very low on confidence and esteem, and gave everybody a lift, but he's too much of the hoof for my liking. He was in serious trouble because of Swansea's speedy forwards and extremely lucky not to have been exposed further. Now Collins I have seen for the Republic's youth team and he did very well. Just because he's 17, 11 months and one week old doesn't mean he can't play among men. He can't save us though if the rest of the selected team goes awol.

Ah, I see- play Collins rather than risk another injury or exacerbation thereof by Shawcross. Fair enough- nothing to be lost in trying Collins for 90 minutes as I doubt he would face any more physical a side than Rotherham. If he can handle them, I think it will tell us masses about how good he could be- which hopefully is very good.

All those questions enter my mind too and Bauer is experienced but we are not privy to what has gone on between him and the manager. Because of injuries and suspension some chances will have to be taken and I would certainly be talking to Woods. Might offer him a fresh opportunity in the team!

If Jones doesn't fancy Bauer at right back who the hell does he play there in Edwards absence?. I would try Tymon at left back again if he has seen an improvement in training. If not I am happy for Clucas to be there, offers more going forward in a home game.
