I have just watched the penalty on YouTube. The keeper is a yard off his line by the time Bojan strikes the ball. How the hell can the assistant referee not see that. They really are a useless bunch.

I was quite interested in the mascots antics behind the goal while the pen was being taken as well, I'm surprised that's allowed if I'm honest.

Anyone got any other excuses why he missed it? I even read on here that it didn’t matter because it shouldn’t have been a penalty anyway 😆

However some have chosen to use the Blackburn players lack of a protest as evidence for this.I would argue they know of our penalty taking prowess, and probably knew we had a good chance of missing.

The failure to observe the keeper off his line rule is football's own 'broken window syndrome'.
A visible sign of law breaking that creates an environment that encourages further law breaking and disorder.
You either have the rule and enforce it or you don't.

Watching the EFL Highlights on Quest I observed that more penalties were missed/saved than scored.Really think that the officials should start to enforce the rules of penalty taking.

There was also a defender who encroached an absolute mile into the box before the ball was kicked. I know it doesn’t make a difference but what’s the point in the rule if it’s never enforced?

Bojan haters wake up shocker!
Its not a bad pen, its a good save
Most pens are fairly average, and if the keeper commits and guesses the right way (and him being about 6.5ft helped!) then they will save most
If he guesses the wrong way or is sent 'with the eyes' everybody says what a great cool composed pen it was bottom corner.
I always laugh on pen shootouts when commentators distinguish a 'cool composed' pen from a 'poor miss' when the only difference in a nice height pen is whether the keeper guessed correctly!
The only real unstoppable pens are hard and high into the top corners, or smashed into the sides of the goal near the post, but they are an art form! Risk reward isnt it - power and less accuracy to give the keeper less reaction time, or less power and precision to outfox/skill the keeper - it wasnt like he ballooned it 10ft over the bar or missed the target.
Players that can combine power and accuracy are few - Alan Shearer, Matt LeTissier, Stuart Pearce etc.
I'm pleased he had the balls to stand up and take it, and I hope he stands up and takes the next one too. Same if Charlie wants to take one.

If the officials had done their jobs when Charlie had his pen saved against Brighton we might still be in the Prem. Charlie got all sorts of shit on here, but the truth is, the player who stopped him scoring the rebound not only fouled him, but had encroached by several yards beforehand, other wise, slow as Charlie might be, the defender would have been nowhere near him. It's almost as if the officials are now waiting for VAR (like no balls in cricket)...wtf

I’m still not convinced he’ll make it but Christ he deserves a chance when you see the leeway accorded to the likes of Ince and McClean.
