What’s your favourite game that wasn’t a big occasion?
For me at home to Huddersfield in Dec 92. Great times, great atmosphere and A Cranson thunderbolt too. 3v0 I think

Cup game v Darlington(?) in about ‘92.
Steve Foley hat trick - for his third he back-heeled the ball up over his head in midfield, ran on to it and buried it in the bottom corner.
Pisser 🤣

We played Ipswich at home in a night game and won 3-2 probably about 15 years ago.
As I recall it was just a very nice surprise to have an open, attacking game given the general crappy averageness of the side at the time.

Thorne's 4 v Chesterfield.
James O'Connor busting a gut in the heat at Cambridge.
3-3 @ Barnsley in promotion season, Lenny with the hat-trick.
Blackburn away boxing day, my missus fell down a bank in the snow and we got 3 points, great day!

Two Luton ones funny enough. The classic 4-4 at the Vic and the 2-3 away win under Boskamp. Great times.

Early in the season I think but we went top that night.

Steino's two very very late goals v Leyton Orient in the promotion season.
Now you're winning, now you're not. 😁

West Ham (H) 2-0 (Doyle, Randle)
Notts County (A) 0-1 (Richardson)
Or would they be considered BIG at the time in the old second Division???

The 4-4 Luton game.
I’ve watched it a few times since and still get the same emotions as I did that day on the Boothen.

Did we have similar match and score against Leicester during the binary season? Think we won 3-2 unless I’ve confused the teams. I can remember the chant “you must be shit we scored 3 goals”.

Pisser 🤣 Barnet in the Autoglass 😎 Good old Stigger! That was the first hat trick I ever saw. I always was obsessed with that when I was young, but we never had one for years. I think Studger was probably the next one?

Luton 5-0 when Johnny Gayle cracked one in the bottom corner, mid 90s.
Probably loads more that I conna recall!
More recently, there was the Blackpool 4-3 in the league cup where we scored in the last minute. I celebrated that like theFA Cup semi!
And this season, there was the Huddersfield cup game where Saido scored and their lad scored the incredible OG
This thread is the essence of football supporting for me. You never know if the best game ever is approaching. Which is why it’s always worth sticking with it 😎😎😎 that’s the addictive drug/allure for me

23rd December 1972. Stoke 4 Derby 0. I think that was the season when Derby were Champions, but Cloughie had them in training on Christmas Day as a result of the heavy defeat. John Ritchie scored 2 but for me M.O.M. was George Eastham.

Beating Leeds United 7-2. The really funny thing about that was that we'd done them 6-2 the previous season. Before the 7-2 match, their keeper Mervyn Day had been in the media saying they wouldn't let the same thing happen again.

Oldham away under Mick Mills. 4-2.
Phil Heath and John Devine ripped them to shreds with Bertsch grabbing a couple, I think...

Winning at Upton Park (Boleyn Ground my arse) 2003/04. After a good start to the season we'd gone shit and looked relegation candidates. The Gerry came along and we looked stronger and the season turned around from there.

Blackpool away, November 92 - pissing down with rain in an uncovered away end, fans piling on the pitch to get under the covered section. 3-1 win and a fabulous goal from Rooster, and lots of pre and post game mischief had all over Blackpool. Good times.
